To be entirely sick of Endometriosis?

Ezlo · 18/03/2025 05:14

I've been awake since 2am with excruciating endometriosis/adenomyosis pain and heavy bleeding. I've lied with a hot water bottle and hot drink. It didn't help. I had a bath, which didn't help and as soon as I came out of the bath, blood was pouring!

I have something important I have to be at for work at 10am, where usually if I'm feeling shit I could work from home or have a sick day.

I am in exactly the same boat OP. Been up for a few hours, horrible pain and feel sick. Just found out we have run out of ibuprofen and paracetamol alone only does so much.

have to be in the office later as well for a meeting. Totally gutted!

clinging to my hot water bottle for as long as I can. Dreading having to start getting ready in an hour. The idea of having to put tights on my sensitive legs is making me want to vomit.

Ohh @OuiLaLa I'm sorry to hear you're going through the same. This bloody awful disease. Get through the day and then retreat to your bed. Take care lovely xx

😭😭 im so sorry it's just bloody awful. For me the only thing that helps is mefenamic acid and metamizole as long as I can keep them down. I take them now at the first hint of any pain, and usually it nips it in the bud. I don't think metamizole is available in the UK but you could ask your doctor for an alternative?

I hope for both of you that this morning isn't awful 😫

Thank you @mushroomushroom and I'm sorry that you also go through this. The GP was reluctant to prescribe me mefanamic acid. I have no idea why. Stupidly, I had run out of ibuprofen last night too and the paracetamol wasn't working. I bled on my lovely new sofa. Luckily I'm covered by an insurance plan. I wanted to rip my womb and other bits out last night.

Boots period pain reliever contains 250mg of naproxen. You have to ask for it but can buy it without prescription. Naproxen was the only medication that ever helped me.
It's a non steroidal anti inflammatory so you can't take it in combination with other drugs from this group.

I tried a tens machine which offered a tiny bit of relief but not as much as for some other people.

Baths and hot water bottles offered some relief whilst I was using either but the moment I got out of the bath or took the hot water bottle away the pain was back immediately. Adhesive heat pads (a bit like hand warmers) might be useful if you have to do life and crawling into bed and wishing for death isn't an option.

You have my sympathy. Hope you can make it through whatever you absolutely have to be at work for and then go home.

I don’t know what the drug is called sorry but if u google there is a new drug for endo just been passed for use in nhs England, that is all singing all dancing, it was on the news this week, have a look and may be something u can ask for.

It’s a horrible condition. My colleague met the threshold for a hysterectomy and she jumped at it. Obviously that is a very personal decision though. But she couldn’t take the debilitating pain anymore.

Painkillers. Only thing working for me.
Hope you feel better soon.
