It says they will increase wages though in general.

No more extra for working Sundays though!

It should be double time for working Sundays or Nights
Time and a half for working Saturdays.
Time and a third for working any hours outside of 8-6 (unsociable hours)
And this should be enshrined in law. Workers should not be allowed to "opt out".

And you'd be prepared to pay for this via increased prices?

Yes they did, lost contact now with them. Do they still get enhanced pay at Waitrose for Sundays.

If they have had continuous employment with the partnership since 2015 & not resigned & rejoined on a new contract then they would still get the premiums.
Some branches don't allow people who get premiums to work overtime or on Sundays it depends how easy it is to fill the shifts.

Maybe the unions should fight for better terms for new employees!

The USDAW put forward extension of the 10% Sunday uplift for all employees as one of their bargaining points. They tried. They failed on that point.
They gained an above inflation rise in hourly rates and a (yet to be quantified) lump sum for those having their uplift removed.

But the more people join the union, the more bargaining power they hold. Few new employees seem to think of joining.

Many many years ago I was Sunday staff as the department store deliberately only had Sunday staff and Sunday manager to avoid paying extra.

I'm surprised anyone would be paid extra for Sundays in the 1st place unless it's overtime.

Back in the day, we used to get time and a half for working Sunday at Tesco if it was overtime.

Otherwise you'd get normal pay for overtime.
