For being unsympathetic

I can’t be doing with my DH lounging around, sleeping and being lazy just because he has a cold. I’m all for sympathy if it’s a sickness bug or something worse, but a common cold, just get on with it 😐

AIBU for being harsh?

Yabu. A cold can mean different things. You can be snotty and sneezy and perfectly capable especially after a paracetamol or you can be weak legged and exhausted and incapable of normal life for a day or two. Sometimes a day of total rest can get you back on your feet twice as fast so you're not spending 2 weeks exhausted trying to build yourself back up. It really depends on what his symptoms are and how long it's going on.

I know quite a few people can just carry on when they have a cold but personally I really struggle: mainly because all I want to do is sleep. And also if I don't take care of myself when I have the cold it generally morphs into an ear infection or goes onto my chest and I get a dreadful cough that lasts for ages.
So I have some sympathy with your DH if he takes colds badly.

Depends. If he’s doing this every other week for some sniffles then YANBU.
But I’ve had colds that have really knocked me for 6, and I wouldn’t have appreciated DH going “get a grip it’s just a cold”

YABU. A cold can make you feel absolutely wiped out. The best thing for a virus is rest!
