The epidemic of not using headphones has now reached air travel

Every flight I have been on in the last 18 months, has involved at least one passenger in close proximity playing videos on an iPad / phone with no headphones.

When did this become a thing?

Are people so unaware as to think the entire plane wants to listen to children’s cartoons or whatever else they are playing?

Is this a new social norm?

Hell no
I'd probably end up on one of those viral videos showing 2 passengers screaming at each other in the aisle...

I asked someone to ask their children to turn their iPad down or wear headphones and I actually feared for my life at some point. People are so strange how they think it’s ok!

I had this on an Easyjet flight recently and don't understand why the cabin crew don't deal with it. Tempted to take something super loud to find what their limit is.

Cabin crew intervened almost immediately on virgin last time I flew. They came over with a headphone adapter “in case the ones we were issued with didn’t fit the device “ (of course it did, was just an excuse to say to the parents put headphones on your child!). Passenger complied

I’ve been known to hand some spare headphones we are not using (cheapy ones) to a parent for their child to use.

It’s been like this for years, particularly with kids. Once had to listen to Peppa pig for 2 hours.
(nowadays I’d say something)
