To be annoyed that someone brought their chicken-pox ridden baby to a wedding yesterday?

Now I know that once the spots are out, the child isn't meant to be infectious anymore (at least I think that's the case), but this baby has siblings and young cousins who she's been in contact with who were also at the wedding - they may have been contagious but showing no symptoms so far. I was letting the other kids play with DS until I was told (3 hours into the reception) about the other baby being ill.

I'm just really annoyed as we're off on a plane back to the US tomorrow so DS could be spreading it to all on sundry as the air recirculates around the plane!

So AIBU to think this baby should have stayed home even though the bride was her aunt?

If she was not infectious YABU.

If she was infectious YANBU.

You can't do anything about other children who might or might not be incubating the disease. That could be true of anyone at any time and parents can't isolate healthy children for 2-3 weeks.

To people who think chicken pox is minor, do bear in mind it can have serious and sometimes very serious complications. Ds was almost hospitalised with it and was very ill. He had open weeping sores bigger than a 50p all over him, especially his groin area. He couldn't sit or lie down without a lot of pain, and was stood up semi-naked for hours on end wimpering even after painkillers. He is an otherwise healthy child, who was still breastfed when he had it (22 months). It was heartbreaking.

I also had it as an adult, which wiped me out for a month and I had sores in every orifice you can imagine -extremely uncomfortable.

I had dd vaccinated as soon as she was old enough (12 months). All other major western countries vaccinate, but we don't here because of the ongoing fallout from Dr Wakefield .
