Lack of motivation / mentally tired - could it be depression?

Beyond potentially being peri.... (Iron deficiency and thyroid issues are under control, and this has never been a symptom). What else could be the culprit?

BTW I still can make myself exery and perform OK, it's more the "mental" activities that I struggle with.

AIBU to think it could be depression? Can't really think of anything else. I'm 40 and fit and healthy.

Yes, it could be.

Or low level allergies, lack of good nutrition, auto immune thing, stress, or as you suggest perimenopause. Or another health condition. Tiredness is hard to pin down!

I hope your GP is helpful - ask them to test and advise?

Self-care for mild depression never hurt anyone so you could just see if that helps.

It could easily be depression. Your GP would much rather you reach out to them for help now rather than potentially let it get worse and worse.

I always score low in those depression tests because I still find joy in things, and I don't have "bad thoughts". I just have zero motivation to do "mental work".

Physically I'm not tired, in fact I'm typing this as I pedal away on my spinning bike
