To find this an extremely weird and unpleasant art exhibition (warning - really unpleasant)

At first I thought this was a peculiar joke but it looks as though it’s on several news sites.

I expect that this artist would claim that he cares deeply about animal welfare. But even if he didn’t, I can’t imagine deciding to starve something to death for the sake of art.

It’s possible that he and his friend hatched a plan to have the creatures rescued (so this was more of a thought experiment than anything else). I hope so.

Artist abandons plan to starve piglets to death after animals stolen

The artist's friend helped animal rights activists break into the gallery and free the piglets after his 10-year-old daughter begged him to "make sure the piggies won't die".

They are pigs. Only one would starve to death.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 12/03/2025 14:06

@TheSandgroper the pigs might all be emaciated at the same time and too weak to consume whichever pig died first.

Also, this same artist had live fish in a blender as a display and people were encouraged to switch it on.

Thanks for the article. I would expect that was the plan, the rescue, all along.

The title of the exhibition is 'and now you care', which suggests that there are many animals people don't care about until the cruelty is visible.

Bit of an edgelord but making an animal welfare point through performance art by the sounds by staging this rescue.

I'm not sure where danish animal welfare laws would stand on the purported exhibition plan rather than what I believe to be the actual one.

@VeterinaryCareAssistant ew. He needs men in white coats with a big needle, no lauding.

The police should take the statements at face value.
Have the man charged under the local animal welfare acts and have him barred from keeping animals for life.
Plus also charge whoever else was involved with renting/providing the space with animal cruelty too as they were aware of the plan too.

In fairness, I don't know what the law is in Denmark about this sort of thing.

In fairness, I don't know what the law is in Denmark about this sort of thing.

It will have general farming standards legislation the same as the UK as most law is on food production animals is based on EU wide rules.
Its highly unlikely that setting out to deny water and food is not covered under Denmarks laws but is under EU rules
