AIBU - Painter has painted onto glass of windows?

Hi all, we had the kitchen painted and the painter has painted the wooden windows too. They are 2 windows separated into 4 panes/8 in total. In all of them there is white paint onto the glass, not even straight just sloppy at the sides/uneven. It’s about 1-2 cm. The invoice is £480.

The wallpaper is also not a complete match in places, but I can live with that.

YAIBU - remove yourself with a glass scraper

YANBU - ask the painter to fix himself

Update: He’s come back and ignored what I’ve said about the painting and just said he didn’t cause the sticky patio.. still hasn’t sent me an invoice!

Leave the ball in his court then. He may send you an invoice in a day or two, or he may decide because he knows he's fucked up to just write it off and avoid you completely. AFAIK you don't have to pay until he's actually invoiced you/asked you to pay, and only then do you quibble/negotiate the deductions/remedy.

Might be worth getting some quotes for fixing the work, so you're armed with the deductions, but there's a pretty good chance he just won't come back to you because he doesn't want to 'lose more money' by fixing stuff for 'free'. Don't forget, as well as not being able to charge to rectify, he's also unable to take on actual paid work while he's fixing his fuck ups, so sometimes it's the lesser of two evils to just move on when they know it's their fault.
