Stunning or beautiful

That stunning is more of a compliment than beautiful

I've been called gorgeous by one man
And stunning by another

No overthinking either just what would you prefer

You spoiled, spoiled woman.

I’m just grateful if they let me take the bag off my head.

WellFilledLeggings · 10/03/2025 18:24

Not to be pernickity but why do you need a preference/hierarchy of which is the better compliment?

I would say 2 men have paid you a compliment about your looks. Neither is a 'better' compliment than the other. They both imply you are better looking than the average woman.

Cotswoldmama · 10/03/2025 18:24

I think beautiful is the biggest compliment but if I'm honest if a man compliments me I take it with a pinch of salt and think he just wants something. I'm secure in how I look so don't want to be valued by my looks, it feels weird to be complimented because you are born looking a certain way.

Coolasfeck · 10/03/2025 18:24

I’ve seen ‘stunning’ used in a completely snarky way so I think ‘beautiful’ is better

verycloakanddaggers · 10/03/2025 18:26

Depends on who is saying it, rather than the word.

I prefer clever.
Or kind.
Or nice.
Or helpful.
But perhaps I'm just pig-ugly.

It's not an either-or situation. Being beautiful/stunning doesn't stop you from being clever, kind, nice or helpful.

RaininSummer · 10/03/2025 18:35

I prefer beautiful but either are better than 'hot' which I loathe as it's so sleazy.

Zeroperspective · 10/03/2025 18:37

irenestubbs · 10/03/2025 17:48

Or gorgeous?

Stunning
Beautiful
Or gorgeous

If you asked me to rank them then I'd say
Stunning
Beautiful
Gorgeous

bettydavieseyes · 10/03/2025 18:38

Stunning sounds like it would be a one off compliment as others have said 'you looked stunning at your wedding' etc or in a new relationship 'she is stunning' whereas beautiful means looks and can mean personality as well. Both are lovely compliments! Gorgeous is on a par with beautiful to me.

MeAndMyCatCharlotte · 10/03/2025 18:39

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 10/03/2025 17:44

I'd say the opposite! Beautiful sounds more classy and about your inherent natural looks. I associate 'stunning' with shit newspapers saying '21 year-old blonde stunner, Tracy' etc.

Agree

HomeTutor · 10/03/2025 18:41

I fucking hate 'stunning'.
Literally means, stunned, mouth open, frozen, unable to speak due to the SHOCK of how wonderful you look.
See also, rough as fuck woman posting on Facebook, followed by her mates commenting 'stunning', when actually, no.

I. Hate. Stunning.

Agree.

Why does it matter which one you think is better?

They both pretty much mean the same thing…

FidosMum84 · 10/03/2025 18:41

Is this a humble brag? You have two men who notice you exist and appreciate your looks.
Enjoy it! Some of us would just like an acknowledgment that we’re alive 😂

blueincense · 10/03/2025 18:42

stunning just reminds me of how they used to describe page 3 girls. just nope.

Crazybaby123 · 10/03/2025 18:45

I interpret stunning as somrone so striking you are literally stunned when you see them. But not necessarily beautiful, it could be their whole package, looks, body, clothing, charisma combined, making you look twice.

Beautiful to me is someone that has natural facial features that are very attractive in todays beauty standards, so high cheek bones good teeth, long eye lashes etc.

Bimblebombzle · 10/03/2025 18:51

I like beautiful - makes me think of beautiful inside and out. But you're not a stunning person inside. Obviously stunning Is still a compliment and probably a stronger one in terms of physical appearances.

AndSoFinally · 10/03/2025 18:55

Stunning seems to be in the same vein as 'striking' to me. It doesn't always mean actually attractive by conventional standards, in the way that beautiful would imply, just that you are stand-out in some way

ISpyNoPlumPie · 10/03/2025 19:06

Beautiful but only if it encompasses something more than appearance. I don’t like anyone commenting on my looks though. Positively or negatively, it’s always perceived (consciously or not) as placing value on something you really don’t have that much control over. It’s much nicer when others value you as a person.

RobertaFirmino · 10/03/2025 19:19

I detest 'stunning'. Just like 'gorgeous', it's massively overused. It also makes me think of the s*n (does not deserve capital letters). Why is it so important anyway?

lovingtheworld · 10/03/2025 19:45

VivaVivaa · 10/03/2025 17:43

I’d be happy to be called either right now to be honest 😅

Same im just invisible.

fluffyblanky · 10/03/2025 20:02

My boyfriend says I am beautiful, stunning, pretty, gorgeous, sexy, attractive, good looking. And shallow be me, because I love it !!!

TemporaryPosition · 10/03/2025 20:03

TwattyMcFuckFace · 10/03/2025 18:06

The thread is about looks though.

Ohh no not "kind" that's the most bottom of the barrel compliment

fluffyblanky · 10/03/2025 20:04

What is s*n ?

Shubbypubby · 10/03/2025 20:06

I'd take any of them TBH! 😂
