to expect the gas man to come and fix the boiler?

We got our boiler serviced for £210. 6 days later our boiler stopped working.

The company originally made an appointment to come out to look at the boiler but a couple of days later changed their minds and said we had to pay again for them to come out.

We had to get another company in to fix the minor problem but it costed us another £205.

sorry to hear about your trouble, being a former estate agent, i know all aboiut the gas man, what i suggest you do is write a lettor , very stern one i might add to the original company, letting them know about the problem, thah you waited for them to sort it but you and your family could not wait any more, ask to be reimbursed for the total sum and include copy of reciept, and slip in that you are writing the letter on the advice of your solicitor as he/she recommended you try to resolve it in a friendly manner first before taking it further, always works for me and horrible landlords who were so tight to fix their roperties tenants did it themselves and had to resort to threats and deducting from the rent. hope it helps

When you say ask them to reimburse the total sum, do you mean £415? I was thinking of asking them to reimburse the £205.

yes ask for all, as they did not do the job in the first place, why should you pay them and then have to pay someone else to do what they should have done or corrected in the first place, also which ever incompetent person did first service may have done more harm than good, or you might have further issues around the same problem, just to cover yourself.
