If you grew up poor do you ever miss it?

This is a weird one. I grew up very poor , generational benefits, insecure housing etc.
I'm now firmly middle class to anyone looking in , and I'm probably romanticising it, but sometimes I find myself missing the simplicity of my other life. It's hard to talk about as it's very crass, and I have a lovely secure life now, but sometimes the choice of everything is overwhelming. Can anyone relate? I do not wnat to come over as tone deaf or entitled etc but I do find the class jump hard.

Get a grip, seriously. You are romanticising what it’s like to be poor because you are in a position of middle class privilege. An actual poor person reading this thread will think you’re a privileged arsehole

Not true. We were dirt poor, I escaped and flourished, but now I'm poor again. As in "an actual poor person". I absolutely relate to OP, as an adult I find the lack of monetary choice a relief, it focuses me and I have to make it work. But that's a world away from the shame and loneliness of being v poor as a child-although the outdoor play, freedom and not being under the adult gaze when we played out will always stay with me and I wish my children had that freedom.

Definitely not. It was awful looking in an empty fridge and having to drink water for weeks on end as my mum couldn’t even afford squash. That’s why I always buy squash as one of my food bank items in fact. I’d never want to go back to that life.

Could you be nostalgic for childhood memories more than it about being poor then.

OP, do you come from Greece and have a thirst for knowledge?

What did you study and where?
