Its impossible to get any type of wipe out of a packet in single layers?

Wet wipes, anti bac wipes, make up remover wipes, freshening wipes

You name it - they are impossible to pull out as one single wipe, am I right?

Then you have to try to stuff whole wads of them back in the pack and the packet rips.

I voted YANBU, because for the vast majority, this is correct. However, I do have some hay fever wipes for eyes that come out nicely one at a time. If they can get it right, why can't the others?

Bluevelvetsofa · 08/03/2025 13:15

I agree. And when you get to the last few, they come out in a clump and you have to stuff them back in.

Titasaducksarse · 08/03/2025 13:17

This! Really pisses me off. Then you end up tearing the opening hole bigger trying to squash a wedge of them back in which then means the seal won't fit properly so they dry out quicker.

Bearhunt468 · 08/03/2025 13:19

Oh my gosh yes! When my son was born 5 years ago Aldi wipes were great then that changed the packaging and they became like this! So annoying when your mid nappy change with a poonami!

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 08/03/2025 13:31

I’m glad it isn’t just me who finds this massively annoying. I have even wondered if it is a deliberate tactic to make me use more than necessary at a time so I need to buy more of the bloody things.

Cattery · 08/03/2025 13:34

My make up wipes are ok but my Dettol large size antibacterial wipes start off ok when the pack is full then start to come out in a clump. Infuriating

soupyspoon · 08/03/2025 13:38

Im gatecrashing my own thread to add another couple of culprits, although not quite as difficult but dog poo bags (we use them for cat poo in the garden) and sandwich bags that come in boxes. They're a bit easier to pull out individually but still get into a mess with them sometimes.

I saw a "life hack" thing that said to put elastic bands round them to fix this problem.

Doesn't work.

These sound amazing, what brand are they? Didn't know they existed but I need them!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 08/03/2025 13:43

I mean, i know they think they're being helpful making it so they dont detach from eachother easily so the top of the next wipe comes out to be exposed for "easier" getting it out (like how tissues work) but it means to not pull half the next wipe or multiple more out you have to use two hands, one to pull, the other to separate when the second is partially out, and thats just not practical for most uses when you're likely to have the other hand occupied.

DarkMagicStars · 08/03/2025 13:43

The hair bobble around the pack hack mostly works for me.

Choccyp1g · 08/03/2025 13:46

And why do the first 2 or 3 (dry) tissues always come out together? They are ok for the rest of the pack though.

DinoLil · 08/03/2025 14:56

Hahaha!!! So true!!

You end up pulling out about six, poke the excess back in the packet and the next time pull out about 12 and poke them back in!

Biffbaff · 08/03/2025 14:58

Sainsbury's baby wipes are the worst for this!

gollyimholly · 08/03/2025 15:02

Yes, so annoying. And when I do stuff them back in, if I can't get it quite right it wets the sticky seal (I'm looking at you Dettol wipes!) and won't seal back properly thus risking drying out sooner and rendering lots of wipes useless. I wish they'd package it in something where it would close up with something less temperamental.

I find the opening on a box of tissues is always far too small, leading me to pull and tug and end up with a clump in my hand.

I now cut open the "opening" to make it wider and longer. No more clumps and one tissue at a time.

valder · 08/03/2025 15:04

Hmmm maybe the same would work for wet wipes. Off to make the opening bigger and see. 😉

Normallynumb · 08/03/2025 15:20

So true. Even if you tuck the last one in, the wet removes the stickiness from the seal
I put mine into a ziplock bag which helps

Yes we've taken to using sandwich bags to keep them sealed but its not perfect

This really pisses me off. I buy a certain brand of antibacterial floor wipes, and for the first half of the pack of 20,they can be pulled out one at a time. But halfway through the packet,it's impossible to get one out at a time.

I was thinking the same just yesterday. It's got to be deliberate

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 08/03/2025 16:32

I agree with this but what's far worse

Is the texture of them, now that the plastic has been removed

When youre pulling a few out and they rub together, it makes me cringe, sort of like nails on a chalkboard. They're awful to touch too

Just awful. Yanbu

Candystripes85 · 08/03/2025 19:51

Put a hairband/elastic round the packet and they will come out one by one.

Itisbetter · 08/03/2025 19:54

Just don’t use them. They’re rubbish anyway.

soupyspoon · 09/03/2025 08:16

Well I thought someone would be along sooner than that, to say 'use a cloth'.
