beavers being rereleased in the uk - why? They are territorial animals and don’t really have a place in our carefully balanced ecosystem.

God, don't mention bats - the OP's already having conniptions about the rewilded wolves swimming across the Channel and bringing rabies to the South Coast.

DontStopMe · 07/03/2025 16:52

I think beavers will do a better job than Thames Water, without going into billions of pounds of debt.

AngelicKaty · 07/03/2025 16:52

LemaLemons · 07/03/2025 15:06

I think you’re involved in this whole thing and actually were part of the initial plan to put beavers back into the wild. And then they’ve sent you to identify anything that disagrees with your world view and to spread your propaganda to make people think it is correct that beavers are reintroduced.

I think you should go and lie down in a darkened room until you feel better. Beavers are not out to get you - or anyone else.

SunnyViper · 07/03/2025 16:53

OP, you are clueless and unable to process any information that challenges your view. That is a very immature and underdeveloped way of thinking.

CallMeDaphne · 07/03/2025 16:54

Think of the kiddies.

The beavers can smell them you know.

Edited

To be fair Rabid-Channel-Swimming-Super-Wolves might raise a little anxiety.

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 07/03/2025 16:55

Maybe we should ask the Scouts to tighten up their policies to keep the rogue Beavers under controls

Oh wait

Wrong Beavers

Bannedontherun · 07/03/2025 16:56

Zebedee999 · 07/03/2025 16:46

Surely humans could engineer such dams in a more consistent and reliable way than beavers?

Don't be ridiculous, we cannot organise a railway service, safe buildings or a piss up in a brewery here.

AngelicKaty · 07/03/2025 16:58

LemaLemons · 07/03/2025 15:11

And what about the beaver on child violence risks?

Oh do stop it, this is getting silly now. Beavers are mostly peaceful animals and would only pose a threat to humans if they themselves felt threatened and/or had their young nearby. Beaver attacks on humans are extremely rare. Why don't you worry about badgers instead? They're much bigger, armed to the teeth and could do you a lot of harm if they felt so inclined.

CliptyClop · 07/03/2025 16:59

I believe this is why the world is going to hell in a hand basket. The fact humans are worried about their children being exposed to pretty harmless animals is the reason we are in this mess. It’s quite shocking

I can tell you the beavers intentions.

Eat.
Shit
Make dams
Make more beavers

The end.

Corrected that for you

I can tell you the beavers intentions.
Eat.
Shit
Make dams
Make more beavers
World domination and the end of life as we know it
The end

Hello, we are going to let this thread run even if the OP has revealed their true identity as the dreaded Bison Troll.
MNHQ

Lovely to see the thread running free. Like the beavers and the bison.

(Bisons? Bison.)

TickingAlongNicely · 07/03/2025 14:57

As a Scout leader, headlines like Beavers released into wild absolutely terrify me.

I'm sure the little furry creatures are a lot less terrifying than the human versions in their turquoise jumpers.

Ditto!

YourHappyJadeEagle · 07/03/2025 17:03

LemaLemons · 07/03/2025 14:57

You cannot work with a force that can’t be controlled. Beavers are not subject to negotiation and cannot be sit down and spoken to. How do you propose we work with the beavers when they are just going to willy-nilly make dams wherever they see fit no matter the consequences??

How do you know? It’s highly likely you could sit a group of beavers down and get more sense from them than you can from many of the world’s leaders. More power to the beavers I say.

ForPearlViper · 07/03/2025 17:03

Do we know what side the beavers will be on when the Rabid-Channel-Swimming-Super-Wolves arrive? We could be in trouble if the bison rise up too.

wastingtimeonhere · 07/03/2025 17:04

I've sat down with 🍿 to read this thread..
Could the beavers be plotting to re-flood, flood plains that local dodgy development companies have appropriated with bribes for building shoeboxes houses on?
🤔

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2025 17:04

Elliania · 07/03/2025 16:39

Are you the same poster who was concerned that wild European wolves would swim the Channel & retake England in the name of all wolfkind?

Ooh, they were talking about European wolves at lunchtime on radio 4. They were focussing on Transylvania but apparently even Luxembourg had some.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 07/03/2025 17:05

I live near a beaver colony. I have yet to hear of anyone coming to any harm as a result of a beaver attack. I'd love to think of the beavers teaming up and taking down any intruder but, in reality, they aren't the most forthcoming of creatures and are extremely unlikely to confront a human, child or otherwise.

Shodan · 07/03/2025 17:06

Beaver gangs will be rife 😮

To want to understand why they are re-releasing Beavers?
JohnTheRevelator · 07/03/2025 17:06

My mind is boggling at violent beavers!

Zebedee999 · 07/03/2025 17:09

Bannedontherun · 07/03/2025 16:56

Don't be ridiculous, we cannot organise a railway service, safe buildings or a piss up in a brewery here.

Maybe put the beavers in charge of the railways then??!!

ginasevern · 07/03/2025 17:09

God I enjoyed that thread. Violent beavers and their intentions eh.

TooBored1 · 07/03/2025 17:10

SilenceInside · 07/03/2025 14:51

That was my exact thought...!

Or the wolves swimming the Channel?

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 07/03/2025 17:10

ForPearlViper · 07/03/2025 17:03

Do we know what side the beavers will be on when the Rabid-Channel-Swimming-Super-Wolves arrive? We could be in trouble if the bison rise up too.

Maybe they can fight each other and we can rise from the ashes?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/03/2025 17:11

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2025 17:04

Ooh, they were talking about European wolves at lunchtime on radio 4. They were focussing on Transylvania but apparently even Luxembourg had some.

Don’t tell the OP that. We’ll be getting threads about an invasion of Transylvanian vampire wolves next.
Perhaps:
“Should we be worried about a cross channel invasion of aquatic vampiric lupines?”
