Train sniffer

Woman beside me sniffing every 20 to 30 seconds. WIBU to offer her a tissue. It is making me rageful

I've 100% been stuck on a train before wishing to god I had a tissue but not wanting to ask anyone 😂

I know some people get v irritated by this but it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Offering her a tissue is very patronising

I moved carriages. THERE IS ANOTHER FUCKING TRAIN SNIFFER. GRRRRR

You’re not unreasonable to offer her a tissue, or to be annoyed by the sniffing, but she’s also not unreasonable to decline a tissue and keep sniffing. In some cultures blowing your nose or using a tissue in public is for more impolite than sniffing.

It's also habit for some people. You could embarrass her.

There is a special place in hell for people who are happy to subject an entire carriage to their constant sniffing.

🤣🤣 I know the feeling, I recently moved carriages 3 times on a longish train journey due to various transgressions. Im such a grumpy traveller. TikTok with no headphones is the fucking worst for me

I HATE this! Sniffing season on busy public transport made me rage.

But… DH bought me noise-cancelling headphones for Mother’s Day a couple of years ago and they have changed my life!

I honestly thought this was going to be someone sniffing the seats.

@Taytoface it drives me absolutely batshit when people do this.....i always offer tissues lol

I offered a tissue to a bus sniffer once - she looked surprised, said thank you, put it in her bag and carried on sniffing!

Sniffing drives me absolutely insane too but it's true that some people think it's disgusting/ very rude to blow your nose in public. Headphones are the only answer - block out all of other people's noise

All I can say is: many Germans have absolutely no inhibitions about blowing their noses extremely loudly in public. It can be annoying but it's better than the sniffing.

I hate the sound of nose blowing more.

Urgh this would annoy the life out of me. Last week I was stuck on a bus near someone who was doing this silly little cough constantly for the whole 40 minute journey. I wanted to say ‘FGS if you need to cough cover your mouth and do it properly, not this silly little affected cough’
