Would you forgive a drunken kiss? Danny/Maura

Sadly seen the Danny/Maura incident. Really feel for his wife as I’ve been there. Dh confessed to me he had had a drunken snog at his works Xmas do. Very humiliating. I would have probably divorced him if we didn’t have kids. It was really painful given it was “only” a kiss. I remember just thinking how dare you. We all go out with friends and speak to members of the opposite sex who want to try it on. But there’s something called self restraint.

Have you met him?
I have - and he’s just as nice as he came across in the jungle. So far removed from a dickhead he’d make even Trump’s Cheeto doodle look massive.
The kiss thing? Not my circus, not my monkeys 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I mean he's a dickhead for getting himself in this situation, not a dickhead generally. I mean, kissing a woman, who is not his wife, in public at a high profile event with cameras everywhere is a bit of a dickhead thing to do.

If we're talking specifically Danny Jones, he's cheated publicly before. He cheated on Miss England 2008 with Miss England 2007 (his wife, Georgia).

Did he really ?! Miss England's seem to be his type then !

I’ll caveat this by saying our marriage is open, so a kiss (and more) isn’t a problem for us. But I can also say that often, a drunken kiss really can just be a drunken kiss, with no other meaning or emotion. I’ve had a lot of them, which were fun at the time, with attractive people - but people I haven’t had any desire whatsoever to see or kiss or do anything else with in any other context. It was a drunk kiss. We enjoyed it. But that was it. I can’t even remember many of their names, years on.

Edited

Seems like a pretty worthless thing to risk your marriage and humiliate your wife for then, doesn't it?

Nope not met him but always comes across as a dickhead to me - talks over people makes it all about him did not care for him at all on celebrity

that said did not see this one coming saw zero chemistry in the jungle where Moira seemed quite childlike and vulnerable

As they say: 'If they'll do it with you, they'll do it to you'...

That you, Danny?!

No. Far worse infidelity would be not backing spouse up in important matters, belittling them etc. Get drunk at a party and have a snog? Bit low on the radar, really if everything else is well.

Alcohol isn't an excuse though. If I can get drunk at a party and not have a snog, so can my husband. It isn't hard.

I don’t think it is though - his wife from what I read ended up going to a retreat to cope with burnout and he seems to just focus on whst he wants from the impression I get and leaves her to do the admin and mental load.

as I said never taken to him

To me all of those things are just as awful and hurtful. All show a complete lack of respect.

It was a very high profile event. If he acts like this in public God knows what he does behind closed doors. His boundaries seem a bit fucked to say the least.

Possibly. Who gets drunk at a high profile event, though?

okydokethen · 04/03/2025 10:11

Why has the press decided it was a 'drunken one off' how on earth do we deduce that? Feels very much like we are writing his get out line for him.

They could be 100% together with his wife's knowledge, maybe he and his wife separated? Maybe it's a full blown affair, we don't know anything and yet we're so willing to let him off and no doubt crucify her.

Buildingthefuture · 04/03/2025 13:36

She seems to instigate it but a few tequilas and he forgets he’s married? AND that people might take photos or film it! Dickhead. One thing I’m utterly certain of is that he’d go ballistic if his wife was caught doing this.
Would I forgive it? Depends on the marriage as a whole I think.

Buildingthefuture · 04/03/2025 13:42

@Grammarnut i wouldn’t but it seems a lot of people do. Charli xcx specifically said she wouldn’t perform at the Brits because she wanted to get drunk (admittedly I have no idea who she is, but she won loads of awards and it was mentioned on the programme).

Mistymeg · 17/03/2025 14:05

If you look at the footage from the jungle when Danny is singing acoustically, Maura may as well have been licking her lips like a Cheshire Cat. I wonder why Danny went to The Brits without his wife? He went with fellow judge and band mate, Tom Fletcher. I would imagine it was ‘work’ and she wasn’t invited. This article is most telling. a) he’s stayed out past 6am, so his wife/son would have been getting ready for school as he pulled his sorry self home b) why are is he running behind a curtain/door with only Maura? Up to no good whichever way you look at it.
