To think this person is even worse than Dominique Pelicot? French paediatric surgeon abuses 299 patients under anaesthesia.

I've already posted in chat but nobody wants to talk, so I'm trying here with a better formulated title. I can't fathom the levels of depravity and cover up. I'm not going to post a link here because now everybody is wary of clicking on the weekend about anything...y'know.

Find it for yourself if you are interested. Joel Le Scouanec.

They are both evil.

I'd like to post a link to the BBC article but I don't want to invite, y'know.

There’s the abuse in itself but there seems to have been a cover up as well. Several slaps on wrist etc.

He was a surgeon!

We really need to start asking what is wrong with men.

If it were women doing this sort of stuff (ok we don’t have all the “equipment” but you get the idea) we would all be under some sort of supervision at all times. Electronic tags, CCTV whatever.

But because it happens the other way around…

Msmoonpie · 01/03/2025 19:54

I’m so disgusted by men. Before someone comes and bleats “not all men” - I know it isn’t. But it is far far too many.

Genuinely I struggle to date as I know that so few of them are actually decent. Just read any of the threads on here about the behaviour.

I think I want to go like in an all female commune at this point.

The woman interviewed at the bottom of this article is saying she’s going to court to hear what happened as she basically needs to known the depravity that society (men) will sink to. I feel the same. I have read the article even though I knew it would be horrific. Because I had to know as how else can you try to protect yourself ?

Can you consider amending your title. I don't think it's very sensitive to Dominique, who is a real person, and should have her abuse compared in a better or worse way.

Redheadedstepchild · 01/03/2025 19:59

In some ways I'm more concerned about how it was allowed to go on for so long. You can't stop bad apples existing as it were but you can certainly...
What the hell was going on?

Dominique was the husband?

I meant not sensitive to his abused wife, sorry for the writing error.

I can't amend the title because I don't have premium and money is tight enough as it is. My original post in chat was just going to lie dead unless I worded it to be more relatable. (And yeah, posting for traffic.)

Everybody has now heard of the Dominique Pelicot case in the UK by now. I call it the Dominique Pelicot case because he was the one on trial.

Thankyou for posting the link when I didn't have the courage to. The Pelicot case and this latest one. I know you can't compare things. Both terrible.

Redheadedstepchild · 01/03/2025 20:40

I suppose - and I'm just thinking out loud here, feel free to call me an idiot, the difference between Pelicot and Le Scouanec is that Pelicot recruited abusers over the internet in secrecy whilst the other scumbag was doing it in plain sight in hospitals.

I can only get his wikipedia up in French. But it seems that he wasn't a paediatritian but some kind of gastro enterologist? "Digestive Surgery"

This.

It's frankly awful to compare her trauma and phrase it as though it isn't as bad. What she went through is unimaginable.

OP, I get you can't change the title now, but your comment is very cold and heartless about changing it.
You could have at least acknowledged your choice of wording was pretty appalling.

I'm not saying that at all. Both cases are horrible. Let's not argue. There is a common theme here which is people being drugged so much that they can't remember what happened.

There is no better or worse. I know that. My réaction was just, "I thought Gisèle Pelicot was an isolated case but oh no, here we go again."

I'm not the enemy here. Let's not infight.

I've thought about this again. In both cases there was some kind of medical collusion going on. Where did Dominique Pelicot get the pills from?

They were prescription drugs.

It's all part of the same thing somehow.
