AIBU to think we need to keep showing our positive support for Ukraine!

The rules-based international order is being destroyed by violent autocrats and the far right. But we will win, however long it takes.

We need to counter deliberate disinformation where we see it. We need to pull on the threads of deliberate Russian psyops designed to divide our societies.

Questioning the sovereign of Ukraine is one Russian-amplified narrative, Taiwan another. So too anti-vax rhetoric, the amplification of the ultra-masculine influencer type (the Tates), the bank-rolling of rising political groups like Reform.

This site has vulnerabilities to all this bullshit, as we saw this morning with the pro-Trump trending topic.

But ordinary users can do so much to counteract the slurry!

Why were Ukrainians able to go home for Christmas? Who supported the Irish when they were being blown up? What financial support did we get? Isn’t the Ukraine a huge country and the war is in a small area? Why can’t they go to areas were the war is not happening?

When we were being bombed and blown up by the Brits our neighbours and alleged allies? Well actually most countries which is why there are Irish all around the world. We were welcomed into many countries due to the British blowing us up so why can we not respect Ukraine enough to help out?

Ukranians can go back anytime the problem is they dice with death in doing so. They are/were allowed out of countries like Ireland say for example without it affecting their refugee status here.

The population of Ukraine was circa 50 million, a lot less now because of the invasion but seriously you expect everyone to defect to another part of a country because some asshole dictator from another country cannot keep to his own country and let Ukranians keep theirs? That is what you think is fair? You are missing the entire point of everything the rest of the world (America excluded) are trying to do which is help people in need who are navigating a war they did not cause because we need to come together so it doesnt happen to other countries in future.

Zelenskyy is a hero. The people of Ukraine are heroic. Putin is a murderous dictator and Trump and Vance want to be like that. I’m proud that Zelenskyy is in England meeting the British prime minister and getting support from European neighbours. America is mired in shame.
