Hairdressers left my hair half wet today?

Went for a haircut today at a new salon. I have thick long hair and requested a messy loose waves style (typically how I always wear it)

She washed my hair, cut it and then started drying it with a diffuser hairdryer. It was still wet though when after a few minutes she said she didn't want to dry it anymore otherwise it would go frizzy so she stopped there and said she was finished. I left, with wet hair and drove to a friend's house for a coffee. When I arrived she laughed and asked if I'd just got out of the shower- my hair was just a wavy half wet mess! It proceeded to dry frizzier than it ever usually does and I was left very disappointed with the end result. I did question why it wasn't dry but she said she'd really recommend me leaving it as it was and that I'd understand once it dried.

Now, question, is this normal to leave the hair wet in this circumstance? AIBU to feel a bit fobbed off?

I paid for a cut and style so was hoping the hair would be dried and ready for a special weekend away I've got coming up with my family (and told the hairdresser this!)

Doesn't sound right to me. I asked for beachy waves at differant salons, it was cut, dried and waved with a hair straightener.

It's normal for me, my hair is curly, they diffuse it 50% then let it air dry on the way home. I do the same at home.

Some hairdressers knock off money if you don't have it blow dried, so if you paid for it I would expect them to finish the job.

sounds odd if you booked for a cut and blow dry.
My hairdresser works by booking appointments by time - my hair is asymmetric, sometimes I get half shaved (half hour), a full cut is 45 minutes. If he fits a full cut into half an hour, he might leave it wet. Curly, but it dries without frizziness if he puts product in. He also always checks if OK to leave it wet.
My hair isn't thick, and I always let it air dry, so doesn't bother me that much.

Not normal for me
I go to a curl specialist and my hair is dried totally before I leave (and it isn't a short process!)

Dare I say she's lazy?

Did she have straight hair by any chance?
