If you have had one - (im considering, and trying to decide if IABU or not! it would consist of breast reduction, tummy tuck and lipo)

How was the recovery, really?

Do you regret it at all?

What things did you have that helped you with recovery?

TIA!

I haven't personally had one but my best friend did.

She had the exact procedures you listed and says it is the best decision she ever made, with the exception of the breast reduction.

The scars are (in her words and I have to agree) awful and her breasts seem to be growing again which will mean she went through the surgery and has the scars for no reason.

She started a really good diet about 6 months before, lots of protein and healthy fats.
She also quit alcohol for 6 months and began taking arnica and other supplements too.

Her healing was really quite easy, she said it wasn't bad at all.

@YouDeserveBetterSoAskForIt thank you so much. Was it a very big reduction? Mine would be going from 36H down to a C/D ish (they can't guarantee

The reduction is the main thing I want!

I believe she was a G and went to a C and she is a size 10/12 and hasn't gained weight (maybe only a couple of kgs). She is perimenopause and apparently them growing back can happen with hormonal changes.

I think it depends on your skin type (re the scars). She is white and relatively pale so the scars are very stark against her skin.

I have another friend who had a reduction with no other procedures and whilst hers haven't grown back, she regrets it due to her areola placement.

She enjoys the freedom of buying standard bikinis etc but it has impacted her sex life as she refuses to take her bra off now in the bedroom.

I think if you aren't bothered what they look like when you're naked and would love to be a smaller size then absolutely go for it. But if scars or slightly unusual areola would bother you, then I would seriously consider not doing it.

I had a tummy tuck in the uk about 5 years ago and honestly it was horrific. Boobs I had done separately. That was fine recovery wise but I do regret having the implants.

Mummywantstobemadeover · 27/02/2025 12:06

@YouDeserveBetterSoAskForIt thank you! I am white and very pale haha

The look is semi important to me but thinking about continuing with them (the back pain, posture, bras digging it etc is more important. But I appreciate what you are saying. I think I will have in my mind that the scars will be bad so as not to be unprepared. That's sad that she feels uncomfortable taking her bra off now :(

@Pyjamatimenow how long was it horrific and was it the pain that was bad or other things? Are you glad you had it done now? Thanks

I had a breast reduction. I couldn't even see the scars after 5 years but the initial scarring is awful.

ABC9876 · 27/02/2025 12:09

To counteract the previous comment, I had a breast reduction in August last year. Recovery was easy, and I am absolutely thrilled! Some of the scars are still red, but most are already faded to white. Maybe it depends who your surgeon is - I deliberately paid more to get a surgeon very experienced who also teaches the surgery internationally.

TBH, even if the scars remained red I wouldn’t be bothered. They were such an issue for me before, went from a 32HH to a 30E and have never felt more confident. There are some long running MN threads regarding BR and it is absolutely life changing. Have a read 😀

Mummywantstobemadeover · 27/02/2025 12:24

@ABC9876 that sounds very positive! I like to hear it all. I am researching like mad!

I didnt have a mummy makeover but did have a breast reduction.

32kk now down to maybe a small D.

The best thing ive ever done with not one ounce of regret.

I stayed at my mums for 2 nights after it, my kids were young and my husband had them but thought it best i get total rest. I honestly felt great and recovered well.

Snapncrackle · 27/02/2025 13:13

I’ve had all three both in the uk & Abroad over the years
of the worse lipo in my opinion leaves the most bruises and pain

tummy tuck depends on if you need a mini ( below the belly button)
full tummy tuck
FDL
muscle repair is the most painfull part of a tummy tuck ( imo)

uplift / implants I had no pain at all and my scars are minimal and very neat

it your having it all done here in the uk I would think it would be around 15 -20k probably more as a friend just had tummy tuck a few weeks ago and paid 10k and when I enquired about an uplift implants they wanted 10k

abroad Turkey Lithuania Belgium with a 10 day - 2 week stay 6 -8k

I paid 6k for tummy tuck uplift and implants abroad last summer and a two week stay

The most riskiest of the three is reduction /uplift and if they need to remove the nipple you can get necrosis of the nipple
it normally happens quite often quickly so ideally stay for for at least a week after this surgery especially if abroad

if you do go abroad you can get medical travel insurance which is a must

Gettingbysomehow · 27/02/2025 13:17

Mine was a mastopexy which is the same op basically as a breast reduction. It's an uplift. I had my baby at 21. My breasts straight after were empty flaps of skin like a 90 year old. They were disgusting. I'd have had the surgery even if the scars went up to my neck.
I'm 63 now and they've lasted all of that time.

ThinWomansBrain · 27/02/2025 13:23

the phrase "mummy makeover" is ghastly - sounds very stepford wives

eyeeyeeyeeyeeye · 27/02/2025 13:49

Watching this ! I really want a make over too. Mainly tummy tuck and lipo.
Reading the turkey stories scare me though. Would Belgium have better aftercare standards?

Thank you so much lots of info there

So I have already got my surgeon picked and my quote it's just really biting the bullet - hence trying to research as much as possible (this has been years waiting and looking into it!) its around the 20k mark and I would definitely do it in the uk - the place is a 30 minute drive away! I would not have the guts to do it abroad! There will be muscle repair 😬

No I don’t think so
if something goes wrong it will go wrong wherever you are
I have 2 friends who had surgery here in the uk and got necrosis and one who had surgery abroad and the aftercare was far better abroad

when I went abroad 3 times over the years there were a lot of returning people for other stuff

if you do your research
get proper insurance
then abroad can be great and a lot cheaper

I couldn’t afford 20k.
I paid 6k for pretty much the same surgery that your having
only thing I would say is get to the weight your are happy with as if you lose more weight in the future you will lose the tummy tuck / flat tummy effect

eyeeyeeyeeyeeye · 27/02/2025 14:47

@Snapncrackle Thanks for this, I wouldn't know where to start !
Any recommendations?
20k is mind blowing money to me

Namechangetheyarewatching · 27/02/2025 14:59

I was 19stone, lost 8 stone

Had 360 FDL, with breast implants, I was quite large breasted but they emptied out when I lost all the weight, I'm now DD.

I then went back a year later and had arms and inner legs done

The FDL was quite hard because its your stomach muscles and you forget how much you use them.

Scaring isn't too bad.

I'm 10 stone now and have the flattest tummy.

Mummywantstobemadeover · 27/02/2025 19:57

@Namechangetheyarewatching wow well done on the weight loss. Yes i've heard you cant raise your arms or use your core with both at the same time!

That's what it's called in every plastic surgery centre I have ever looked at! Not really massively bothered by the name anyway, it doesn't affect the procedures...thanks for the input though :)
