Tortington · 10/05/2008 22:07

i agree with you in part = i think it depends on the op - sometimes i think its done with heavy irony.

Rhubarb · 10/05/2008 22:08

I did one once. I had my mind changed! But yes, normally they are but just don't like being told that they are.

BroccoliSpears · 10/05/2008 22:09

Binkle, you quite clearly KNOW you are not being unreasonable in this case.

eenybeeny · 10/05/2008 22:10

My pet peeve - and this is really silly - is when the poster starts the subject line with "AIBU" - because the whole point is the subject catagory is called "AM I BEING UNREASONABLE?" Its like saying it twice. And I am not even a pedant I cant spell for shit.

mylovelymonster · 10/05/2008 22:12

so to analyse a bit further, you cannot know that you are not being unreasoable or you wouldn't start this thread, so I believe it's quite safe to say, without upsetting anyone, that you are being unreasonable?

How do you feel about AIBU threads where the OP knows they are being unreasonable, but seems to want a bit of a public flogging over it? Just out of interest

Remotew · 10/05/2008 22:16

I dont think people post knowing that they are not being unreasonable. I've started a thread on AIBU and I wasnt sure if I was or wasnt. Nice to know that other people thought that I was not being unreasonable. Phew.

Psychomum5 · 10/05/2008 22:18

I ma always unreasonable...so I dont do them unless I can have 100% agreement!!!!

mylovelymonster · 10/05/2008 22:20

I think that's perfectly reasonable PM

shrinkingsagpuss · 10/05/2008 22:29

sometimes its nice to get some support, so my asking the quesiotn, lots of people tell you YANBU. Sometimes the home world gets so crap, you know the answer really, but it needs a whole load of MNers' to kick to into touch and make you sure of yourself.

shrinkingsagpuss · 10/05/2008 22:31

.. so BY asking the questioin..... sorry its dark here and I can't see the keyboard!

fryalot · 10/05/2008 22:31

Perhaps the topic should be renamed the "come and agree with me in my righteous indignation about this situation... if you want to disagree with me fuck off" topic

Psychomum5 · 10/05/2008 22:31

I am often in need of a rant tho....I do think that MN needs a rant section!!!!

mylovelymonster · 10/05/2008 22:32
Grin
Nighbynight · 10/05/2008 22:35

agree, psychomum

binkleandflip · 10/05/2008 22:36

lol at squonk

OP posts:
mylovelymonster · 10/05/2008 22:36

IME the whole of MN is one major rant session section

cadelaide · 10/05/2008 22:40

eenybeeny, about the AIBU twice thing.

I feel like that when people ask me to "please enter your PIN number", cos really they're saying "number" twice, aren't they?

eenybeeny · 10/05/2008 23:08

wow cadelaide I have never thought of that and I say please enter your pin number all the time at my job!!! going to hide my head in shame now.

MrsFogi · 10/05/2008 23:37

I always know I'm not being unreasonable when I post but I like to check and sometimes find iabu.

Psychomum5 · 10/05/2008 23:49

AIBU to want to kill mice???????????

tell me I am not...I have a snooker cue ready...

2shoes · 10/05/2008 23:58

i am never unreasonable..

sunnydelight · 11/05/2008 08:51

You will ALWAYS find someone who things you are being totally unreasonable, even when you are only having a bit of a moan. It's quite interesting to see the righteous and the people who state the bleeding obvious because of course you couldn't possibly have thought of that pop up

LMAsMummy · 11/05/2008 09:11

Loving Squonk's suggestion!

mylovelymonster · 11/05/2008 09:46

PM - can you borrow a cat?

LyraSilvertongue · 12/05/2008 22:38

I think the topic should b renamed 'Rant', because that's what it's there for. People just want to have a rant and get things off their chest, whether they're being unreasonable or not.
