Go away for 1 month to New Zealand from the UK, if your mum has dementia but has carers in during the day, everyday for a few hours?

Entirely depends how bad her dementia is and how much support, other than visiting carers, she has. Is respite care not an option for a month? Sort of a holiday for her too really and then you (or whoever you are judging?) wouldn’t worry so much.

She is in moderate stages and has other family but they can’t always be there. She wonders at night, doesn’t get lost yet but leaves the house at night. She has also long painful toe nails, knotted hair and hasn’t bathed since April

Probably wouldn't go away that far for a month but that's just me. Only you know the full circumstance.

If you go would it just be spoiled by you worrying about your mum anyway? If you think you would could the NZ trip wait?
