that constipated phrase

I HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES

WTF? Can't people say they're moved or touched or affected by something without having to crank out this image the whole time as some kind of inadequate substitute?

I find it sounds really insincere

urghhhh!

um, maybe you are overreacting a tad ! things do genuinely make my eyes prickle if they're sad or moving

ipanemagirl · 10/05/2008 18:20

People think, live and speak i cliches... it's clearly comforting. But once you have a pet hate it's abhorrent.

My latest hate is when weather people say;

"SPITS AND SPOTS OF RAIN'

That makes me want to throw the telly/radio out of the window.

MargaretMountford · 10/05/2008 18:20

poodlepusher · 10/05/2008 18:20

yes, I definitely am overeacting. Its a hot day and I've just read this phrase and lost it a bit.
