To want a solo spa break for my 32nd bday? Any recommendations?

I’m turning 32 soon and thinking of celebrating with a relaxing solo spa break. I’d love somewhere that feels like a real treat - good facilities, maybe a nice afternoon tea or a great pool, and ideally somewhere that doesn’t feel too couples-focused.

Has anyone done a solo spa trip before? Any recommendations for great spa hotels in the UK (or even abroad if it’s worth the trip)? Would love to hear your experiences!

I really like Ashdown Park in East Sussex. The spa facilities are pretty good but as a country club as well, there are other things going on - great running and cycling trails, landscaped gardens, tennis, yoga, gym. It therefore has a much broader guest appeal and doesn’t seem to be used solely for e.g. big hen dos hogging the spa facilities, or loads of romantic couples.

Outside of the U.K., I think the best spa I’ve been to was QC Termemilano in Milan. Budapest for the thermal baths is also pretty awesome - loads of other stuff to explore, too, and still quite affordable as a destination. I’ve done all three as both a group and a lone traveler and didn’t feel at all out of place as the latter.

Ragdale Hall is one of the best in the country with excellent food as well.

Gleneagles spa in Scotland is a favourite of mine and great by yourself

Whereabouts are you? There's loads in the UK so probably no need to travel too far. I have done several solo ones - I love it!

I’m based in the SE but I’m open to travelling a bit if it’s worth it! Would love to hear what solo spa trips you’ve done and which ones you’d recommend. Any favourites?

I second Ragdale Hall. Beautiful room, lovely food and I felt completely pampered

Christ! I read that as your 32nd baby! 😱🙈

I was going to recommend far more than a spa break! 🤣

Glass house retreat in Essex - lots of singles or friends and they do mind body and soul stuff not just massages and spa

I regularly go to Balliffscourt in West Sussex by myself. Afternoon tea is served in the lounge in the spa so it's perfect for not feeling awkward sitting by yourself in the restaurant (Spread Eagle is nice too and slights less
££). Golf hotels are also a good recommendation as often solo wives spa while husbands golf. Old Thorns is reasonable for spending a day or so in the Spa with a book.

Would also recommend Ragdale Hall for a stay. I have been with a friend - but she often goes alone and I'd be comfortable going there alone too. It has lots of single rooms so is set up for solo travellers.

I'm in the North - up here I'd look at Rudding Park, Seaham Hall and Ragdale.
