I feel in my heart that I'm not to blame, but just want to put it out there.

My colleague and I share a reception role. I do the morning shift, she does the afternoon. We have a one hour handover from 12-1 where we are together. We email handover notes. Obviously her handover notes are more important as it lets me know what has gone on on her shift so that I know what's what in the morning.

I'm all about comms comms comms, and I feel I'm always stressing this.

Last Friday we received a large order of PPE - which we manage, and allocate to staff. Staff are usually waiting a while for their PPE order so I feel its important we get it to them as soon as it comes in.

This order was received on a Friday afternoon when I had gone home, and she had the following Mon and Tues off as annual leave. To make it easier for her I printed off the online form (which we use to update what items have been received) so that she could have it with her in the delivery room and mark it off as appropriate.

I came in to work Monday and she had ticked everything off on the form as being received - even though I couldn't find half of it??

She hadn't left me a handover.

When she came back and we had our 1 hour handover, I asked what had and hadn't been received, so that I could allocate PPE and she immediately became defensive, saying that she was stressed on her last shift and didn't have time to leave a handover. I said that wasn't important but I just needed to know what had and hadn't been received as I couldn't find the items she had ticked off as being received. She got super weird and then said "You know what, i'm not talking about this anymore."

After this I felt I couldn't ask her anything more about PPE - even though it was important as as soon as the items come in, we have to get them out. I stressed that it wasn't about the lack of handover - which she kept referring to - but that I didn't know what was and wasn't received in the order.

My feeling is that she fucked up and just marked everything on the waiting list as being received which I totally get - we've all been there!

I just needed to know what the status of the order really was. The fact she got really stressed and said "I'm not talking about this anymore" was totally unprofessional. AIBU??

YANBU. I hate it when people don't own their mistakes. It's no big deal.

Without being “that person “ I would highlight this so someone above you- that half the stock isn’t there - so it’s not on you. And you’ve flagged it like you should.
