If anyone has seen the film Beau Is Afraid...

Seriously...wtf? I just paid £7 for this on Amazon as it had Joaquin Phoenix in and was directed by the same person who did Midsommar. Both of which I thought meant it was guaranteed to be pretty good. I like black comedies, horrors and that sort of thing but it just left me utterly bewildered and bored. It's 3 hours long!!!!

Started off good but descended into complete weirdness. Dh said it's probably the type of film people study, maybe I'm just not clever enough to get it? Anyway I gave up and turned it off 45 minutes before the end but I may revisit it.

If you've seen it, did you find it bonkers?

It's my favourite film of all time.
Yes it is utterly demented.

I've seen rave reviews but after the first hour it felt so slow. The forest scene...I just had no clue.

I didn't realise it was so long. Usually weird/demented stuff is right up my street but this just left me confused.

It’s one of the most bizarre films I’ve ever seen. Keep going with it, as you’ll never forget it! I won’t give anything away but I still laugh and think WTF about some final parts of the film.

I feel like since I paid for it I will have to finish it but I had lost the will tonight. It was actually making me cross 😂

Loved the first hour but then it just got slow and unfathomable.
