To ask me to find the perfect holiday resort?

We are looking for Spain or Greece in August.

We would like a lively resort but not too Magaluf 1999. We are in our 40s but are taking an 18 year old and my dd who would turn 18 when we are there.

They would like to go off to a few bars on their own ' to meet people' but also we don't want to be surrounded by teens and would like a few tapas and cocktails and nice restaurants. We don't want peace and quiet but vibrant. But we don't want to feel old either.

Also don't want to worry that they are at a manumission style night club miles away.

Does such a place exist?

Sounds like most all inclusive beach hotel style.

We would like different restaurants not all inclusive as it gets samey.

Somewhere like Sidari on Corfu might suit you, or Kalamaki, Zante.

Excellence Playa Mujeres or Stella Island? They are AI but with nice restaurants.

Skala, Kefalonia also.

ValentineValentineV · 22/02/2025 09:10

Does it have to be those countries?
If it doesn’t Oludeniz in Turkey or Paphos in Cyprus would work.

Tabbycat81 · 22/02/2025 09:14

Paphos would be a good shout. You could also look at Hersonissos in Crete. There’s several lovely little Greek villages a 15-20 minute in land from the main resort, but down by the front had some livelier bars.

From what you’ve said I think they might be a bit much.

Puerto del Carmen on Lanzarote would suit. It's got a nice old town with classy restaurants you'd like plus a strip which isn't hideously tacky with shops and bars for them. Lots of culture and scenery on Lanzarote too.

@Violashift how do you feel about your just 18 year old going out on her own in an unfamiliar place 'to meet people' ?

A bit 🥶 but I went to san antonio in 1997 age 17. So also hypocritical.
Be ok if wasn't miles away in a taxi.
