Weak or pragmatic?

I'm in a situation at work where there's been a reorganisation and a new (to me, not to the organisation) manager who's an obsessive micromanager. It annoys me as I'm quite senior myself and am not used to having to account for where I am every minute. It feels like going back in time.

I've got plans to leave for something else in the autumn but I'm keeping my powder dry for now and concentrating on doing my job. She's got a very mixed reputation at work.

I'm not a shrinking violet but I've let off steam to someone I trust and told my partner. He's now telling me off for not standing up for myself, saying I need to tell her where to go, get angry etc. Because I won't do that (it'd make me look stupid for a start) he thinks I'm weak. I think I'm pragmatic. What do you think?

Hi OP

I think it’s pragmatic - save your powder for when you need it!

If you planned to stay, I would probably advise keeping a diary but as you already have plans to go, it’s not worth the hassle if you’re able to stick it out till then. This advice comes from someone who’s actually done it (Grievance, etc) - has your partner?

Enjoy your new job!
