It’s an Air BnB one, sorry!

Quick question.

if an Air BnB listing stated “Bath” under the “Amenities” section, what would that mean to you? What would you expect.

Will get a few responses and then explain why I am asking.

Does this place have a TV? Or did he actually mean a radio?

Complain to Airbnb, and also be sure to leave him a 5 star glowing review… meaning 1 stars and a warning to other guests.

Isn't there a picture?
But a bath, a receptacle for a large volume of water, would be expected if it said bath.
If it said bath is in bedroom, run a mile

chakrakkhan · 21/02/2025 16:05

Also to add I'd expect a bathtub in a bathroom. Not in a random bedroom window as seems popular at the moment.

Anyone who offers, or indeed covets/has such a thing should be locked in a dark cave dfor several decades

Ah, that might be it, whole new language down there.....🙃

Ahem, 'up' there from my front room!

Strictlymad · 23/02/2025 07:58

Definitely complain! That’s very naughty

romatheroamer · 23/02/2025 08:00

I don't think dishwashers would have been invented if a sink did the job just as well, there wouldn't have been any point. Try to explain gently to idiot owner.

Goldengirl123 · 23/02/2025 08:14

Report him to AirBnB. They should give you a partial refund. That is false advertising

We expected a bath as well, currently arguing with dickhead owner as he says it means “bathing facilities”.

No bath, just a tiny shower cubicle.

He also used “dishwasher” to mean a sink.

Is his first language English??

That's the first thing that occurred to me...

If English is his mother tongue - he's intentionally misleading....

I mean dishwasher to mean sink?!? Seriously?!

Butchyrestingface · 23/02/2025 08:22

Mancunian or not, I'd report him.

MillyVannily · 23/02/2025 08:29

Who goes to a bnb to get a bath? Come on 🤣 he won't get more bookings because he mentioned there is a bath!!! The dishwasher I agree is a bit more fraudulent. Although, I wouldn't necessarily need a dishwasher while away, so that also wouldn't be bonus points for me, but I can see how it can be appealing to some people.

Booboobagins · 23/02/2025 08:36

Amenities wouldn't automatically mean a bath to me though - yes bath/shower room but not specifically a bath.

Dishwasher is taking the P. Report to Airbnb. The advert is a joke.

LittleBigHead · 23/02/2025 08:40

In the UK , I’d expect an actual bathtub. Anywhere else, I wouldn’t.

For example, in US property adverts (for sale or rent) a “half bath” means a lavatory - and no actual bath or shower.

RampantIvy · 23/02/2025 08:40

Report to airbnb and trading standards.

As an aside the founder of airbnb is in bed with Trump and Musk and I don't want to give him my money.

LittleBigHead · 23/02/2025 08:43

I’ve now read your follow up - the sink being advertised as a dishwasher ?! He’s a dick. I hope AirBnB responds satisfactorily - he’s misrepresenting the property.

MumBikini · 23/02/2025 08:46

I'm an Airbnb host! We don't have a bath or a dishwasher and so they are NOT listed in the amenities! To list amenities you actually have to physically go into the system and select the amenity! So your host consciously chose to select bath and dishwasher knowing they weren't present in the property which is pretty poor.

When my children were small we saw a bath as essential and would only have chosen places with baths. If I turned up and there wasn't one, I'd feel pretty annoyed about that! Not least because you can often have much more choice and pay less for properties without baths!

Your host is in the wrong. A good host would apologise, say it was an oversight, promise to immediately change the listing, and then offer you some form of refund and money off a future stay etc... only a poor host argues the point and ends up with you giving them a poor review (are the other reviews of the property poor?) and having to complain to Airbnb.

Needanadultgapyear · 23/02/2025 08:47

As a host report to Air BnB and give him a poor rating and explain why.
We have a bath in our property, but actually it is rarely used so it is not the massive boost he thinks.
Dishwasher again we supply tablets, but I would say only about 50% of guests use it.

SnoozingFox · 23/02/2025 08:51

If an advert says in the main listing "three bed two bath" I would take that to mean 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which may or may not have a bathtub.

But if it says there's a bath in the bathroom, you can't say a shower is the same thing. Or that a sink is a dishwasher. Complain to Airbnb and ask for some money back.

I always try to find a b&b/hotel/cottage with an actual bath. Although most just have showers. I don’t have one at home so it’s a treat to have one on holiday.

People with children? People who don't have a bath at home. People who see soaking in a bath as a luxury.

Botanybaby · 23/02/2025 09:06

If it says bath it would mean a bath washing facilities are different

Take screen shots of the description that you booked under and take loads of pictures ask to leave early and for a refund and complain to air b&b

Botanybaby · 23/02/2025 09:08

I always make sure to look at the photos of the property before booking just to confirm listing isn't fake

He hasn’t provided “bathing facilities”. To bathe means to immerse (ie dip or submerge) one's body in water. He’s provides showering facilities. A shower is a fall of water of short duration, You can’t bathe in a shower cubicle.

shellyleppard · 23/02/2025 09:16

@Doseofreality trade description act 🤣🤣

gettingthehangofsewing · 23/02/2025 09:20

Bath means a bath tub. If it's a shower it needs to say. What if a person had disabilities and required a specific washing style. Also dishwasher means dishwasher.

I would expect a discount and would be transparent inthe review . I would also leave the pots in the'dishwasher'

Who doesn't understand why some want a bath in an airbnb? Hmm
People with young children or babies
People who love a soak in the bath

Come on 😆 . Use your imagination
