Giving my DS Multivitamin and Sambucol?

As an extra boost against illness?

He already takes a multivitamin that includes vitamin C at the dose I’ve attached in the image.
However I always find sambucol gummies with the elderberry gives him that extra defence against viruses during the winter months.

Is this a bad idea - meaning can it be harmful to take too much vitamin C?

Extra Vitamin C is just weed out so he'll have expensive urine.

We don't store extra as humans.

That’s what I do. I think once it’s all combined it’s maybe 150% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, and so thought it’s fine.

Misread that as Sambuca 😂😂

Thanks. Image didn’t attach before, so I’ve put it ok now.

So that gives you 50% of the RDA for vitamin C.

One dose of sambucol is around 50% too. Double if you give a double dose.

So you’re not overdosing your child. And if you double up, it’s not that much more. So I’m sure it’s fine.

It's not true that extra is just wee'd out - it can be dangerous to give too many supplements.

How old is your child?

BertieBotts · 21/02/2025 17:09

I can't find a good NHS guide to amounts for children but it does say not to give children two supplements at the same time.

You can take both products to a pharmacy and ask for advice, they will probably want to know the age and weight of your child.
