To ask if there’s any point in doing yoga when I already do Reformer Pilates?

I’ve done yoga for a number of years and started Reformer Pilates last summer. For a while I was doing both but I stopped yoga at the end of the year because I didn’t like the new teacher’s style. Now I’m thinking of picking it up again somewhere else but I’m wondering if it’s worth it since I already do Reformer.

For context, I’m in my early 30s, fit and active - I do pole twice a week, badminton weekly, and Reformer Pilates weekly, so the yoga class would also be once a week if I go back. It’s vinyasa yoga if that makes a difference.

Would yoga add anything new for me or am I better off just sticking to what I’m already doing?

I think it'll be beneficial. I mainly do pilates but try to fit in a yoga class weekly or every 2 weeks. I find yoga really requires me to balance my whole body and concentrate on my posture and stretches. It works up a sweat and I still 'struggle' with it when I've been away for too long.

What is pole btw? Pole dancing?

Vinyasa yoga ( with lots of vinyasas) gave me upper body strength - I didn't get that from Pilates.

Yoga is primarily about mindfulness which makes it quite different from other forms of exercise. If you want to do yoga for fitness, it's probably not going to add much to what you are already doing.

Yes, pole dancing - though more on the fitness side
