I think it should be the guy from the first series of Bridgerton who left

Leo Woodall is so hot but kind of in a cheeky way - i don't think i can see him as Bond

I think it will be Idris Elba though

An acquaintance of mine in that line of business suggests its more like a buss ticket and 'salt and vinegar please and a can of Tizer' given what they are paid not an Aston Martin & a Martini

Are you sure your friend is actually in the same line - and isn't one of these people who enigmatically says in hushed tones "Let's just say that...I work for the government... but I can't tell you any more than that", so that you assume they're a spy, when in reality they work at the council sending out reminder invoices for the domestic garden waste collection service?!

coxesorangepippin · 21/02/2025 15:47

Asa pp said, that fella from Bridgerton

Omg

Back21970 · 21/02/2025 15:50

I’ve just watched Virdee and thought the lead guy in that would make a good Bond.

Cathod · 21/02/2025 15:55

Sam Heughan (Jamie in Outlander)

DisforDarkChocolate · 21/02/2025 15:59

JimHalpertsWife · 21/02/2025 15:25

Andrew Garfield
Taron Egerton

I love Taron but has no chemistry any female actors.

theteachesofleeches · 21/02/2025 16:01

Dev Patel

I think with the new Amazon take over they should shelf Bond for a while and do more villain origin stories and do a double O origin story too. Similar to the what Marvel have done with the superheroes. Then bring Bond back in 10 years time

I think would work.

They could do a set of limited run Prime TV series' where they do villain origins and Bond history, casting relative unknowns in the roles, 5-6 episodes per season. Then a film afterwards that goes straight into a more typical 'big screen' Bond story using the actors they've established in the TV series. Also the most profitable option.

GoldBeautifulHeart · 21/02/2025 16:03

I'd like any of the following:

Sam Heughan

James Norton

Idris Elba

Regé-Jean Page

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

In that order.

Sinkintotheswamp · 21/02/2025 16:05

Idris should be given the courtesy of a couple of Bond films. They've faffed about for so long now. He's not that bloomin old anyway.

Then Nicholas Hoult or Dev Patel.

DataColour · 21/02/2025 16:05

Dev Patel is a good one.

Theo James

Absolutely!

Of course it should be Henry Cavill! There's no other sensible choice!

Thinking about it - he would be perfect.

He has the humour thing going on as well. If you have seen The Man From UNCLE, you will understand....

CheshireCat1 · 21/02/2025 16:11

Sam Heughan, he’d be perfect

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 21/02/2025 16:14

Tom Hiddleston or Henry Cavill.

fingfong · 21/02/2025 16:16

You're all wrong! There's only one man for the job - Callum Turner (mr Dua Lipa). He is tall and absolutely gorgeous, not 'pretty' but sooo sexy - look him up, you'll agree with me! 😁

Worldgonecrazy · 21/02/2025 13:01

Henry Cavill. No contest!

Absolutely!!!

He's handsome - although maybe a bit awkward?

Saw him in some Russian/spy/finance series on TV a while back and he was v convincing - I think he'd be great ❤️

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 21/02/2025 16:31

I'd really like a sixties-era young Bond as a TV series.

MemorableTrenchcoat · 21/02/2025 16:35

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 21/02/2025 12:27

I have no idea. I'm just here to say that Idris is not too old. Roger Moore stopped playing Bond when he was 57. Idris is only 52

Moore started to look a bit past it after Moonraker, which was released shortly before he turned 52. 00 Agents are the fittest, most capable operatives. Someone a few years off turning 60 is just too old. In the books, they retire from that section at 45.

BakeOffRewatch · 21/02/2025 16:36

Dipo Ola, who was DCI Russell Carter in Ludwig series. Think he’s in his 20s so would have years to do the role, whereas Idris Elba is 52. Daniel Craig is 56 now, isn’t the physicality part of the reason he wanted to stop? He’s very handsome and a great actor.

To ask who you think the next James Bond should be?
Sourisblanche · 21/02/2025 16:49

If there had been a Mumsnet thread in 2005 I don’t think anyone would have suggested Daniel Craig!

On that basis I think it will be a relatively unknown actor but perhaps non British now Amazon have controlConfused

LushLemonTart · 21/02/2025 17:01

FartyAnimal · 21/02/2025 12:10

James Norton.

Yes!

LushLemonTart · 21/02/2025 17:03

Sam Heughan would be good too. He reminds me somewhat of James Norton.

He doesn't seem suave enough for me, but maybe if he cut down his beard

If James Norton does it it will be less of a Daniel Craig muscley action type, but more of an intellectual spy type which would be a good change.
