Do you believe in Karma?

Rainydays321 · 19/02/2025 13:42

Or like my Mum used to say “ what comes around goes around!” I think its a fascinating topic and thought it would be fun to see if anyone have any examples of karna, do you believe that whatever energy you put out, it will come back to you? I know my SIL was particularly horrible to me and the advice I was given was “not to worry, the wheel turns” waiting on that wheel to turn 🤣 Any stories or examples?

I believe that people with a positive energy are likely to experience good things due to their mindset but I don’t believe in karma.

Most of the difficult people I have met seem to carry on regardless with no comebacks at all for their unpleasant/unkind behaviours.

Watbtisoi · 19/02/2025 13:48

I don't believe it happens in this lifetime, not sure about after ? Too many terrible people live charmed lives, and too many good people are plagued with grief and bad luck.

CraftyNavySeal · 19/02/2025 13:49

Karma just means actions, there’s nothing supernatural about it.

If you do bad things that doesn’t mean that one day you will get hit by a bus, but you are likely to run into problems with other people! That’s karma

Adelstrop · 19/02/2025 13:50

Sadly no. Life in not always just. At the moment I have a little fantasy that Trump, Musk, Farage and Putin all have to bail out of a flight onto a desert island, and survive (or not) there with only each other to rely on.

McGregor33 · 19/02/2025 13:52

Not sure if it’s karma or coincidence, but one of the men I work with is a notorious cheat. Any new starts and he would be straight with them circling for new prey as we called it, whilst his poor pregnant wife was at home. His wife found out thankfully, he took a heart attack and ended up in a coma about 3 weeks after.

Another one, a guy cut in front of me to steal my parking space, even though I had right of way, looking very smug he walked towards the shop after parking. Our local supermarket will close one set of doors due to high winds, he walked straight into the glass door 😂👏🏻

Zusammengebrochen · 19/02/2025 13:52

Not karma as such but choices do have consequences.

This made me giggle 🤭

No. Unfortunately people who seem to behave like twats and don’t care just continue doing so and nothing ever seems to happen.

It’s the rest of us that appear to have to ‘grow’ and learn a fucking life lesson that we didn’t need. 🙄

blobby10 · 19/02/2025 14:07

I was talking about this to my mum the other weekend, saying how I try to be kind and thoughtful, let people out in traffic, hold doors open etc and how I always hope that karma will be kind to me. That very afternoon I was in a local farm shop and there was a tasting stand for gin - I went to buy a miniature bottle (£4) but the card machine wouldn't work so the lady gave it to me ! Along with the other miniature she had opened for me to taste it Grin That must have been about 40 years of karma repaid in one afternoon Grin

Cattery · 19/02/2025 14:10

I believe if you’ve treated people badly in the past karma will come for you. I’ve seen it happen

Honeyroar · 19/02/2025 14:13

No, I don’t believe it at all. Lots of lovely people have no end of shit happen to them while a lot of horrible people sail through a charmed life.

Cattery · 19/02/2025 14:15

@Honeyroar that’s not karma though, that’s just bad luck. I’m talking about serial cheaters or those who have purposely stitched people up getting their comeuppance.

BarneyRonson · 19/02/2025 14:17

I would love to believe in karma, but I see zero evidence to suggest it exists, sadly.

Arrggghhhhhh · 19/02/2025 14:19

No.. I believe in law of attraction.

custardpyjamas · 19/02/2025 14:20

No, if there was karma the nasty people around would get back some of what they give, but they never seem to. Unless you have to wait for the next life, if there is one.

Sorry but its bollocks.

I understand why people want to believe it. What a nice way to wrap things in a bow.

But no. Not after my truly altruistic best friend aged 35 died a painful, slow death last year and the violent, robbing offenders I deal with on a daily basis are living until they're 90.

She also believed in 'everything happens for a reason'. I wondered when I was with her as she breathed her last if she ever made peace with that.

She didn't die for any other reason other than the disease took over her cells and killed them.
I didn't have a miscarriage 'for a reason'.
Children aren't sexually abused 'for a reason".

As a rule, human beings don't like to think of life as a random, unlogical series of events that could hit at any time, so come up with patterns and arbitrary rules to make themselves feel better.

It doesn't make me feel any better.

Is Karma kind of the law of attraction? Like you do bad things and have bad thoughts and bad stuff will come to you? And you think positive thoughts and do good things then good will come to you? I agree though with good people having bad things happening to them. I have had no end of shit/trauma/ loses but always do my best too be kind and thoughtful.

I don’t believe in karma. I’ve made big some mistakes in my life and I’m going through a hellish time in putting it right and having therapy because of shame and guilt.

Unless me feeling this broken is the karma? Possible, I guess!

💐 to anyone else going through a tough time at the moment.

I do too . I tell my children that is someone hurts you don't dwell on it as karma will take care of them . I've seen it happen many times often years after the event .

The older i get the more I understand the “life is a random, unlogical series of events that could hit at any time” my best friend lost her 4 yo DS in a complete freak accident, 2 years before her mother died, a few months after loosing her ds her husband had a stroke… she has never hurt anyone in her life. I suppose “karma” would make life easier to deal with,

I have never seen it happen but I am always a 'nice' conscientious' 'caring' person because I am scared of Karma getting me.

There have been plenty of people in my life who have deserved it, but nothing. Although, several of them are now dead so could that be Karma? Or just an age thing?

BigBlueRhino · 19/02/2025 14:28

Arrggghhhhhh · 19/02/2025 14:19

No.. I believe in law of attraction.

I think there is something in that . I have one child who is an optimist and things do tend to go his way but I guess if you are likeable and easy to be around doors open for you and your mistakes are minimised .

Meandhimtogether · 19/02/2025 14:29

In the early 80's a friend paid for an item that DH needed to become successful in his work. This one small act changed his and our lives. He was paid back and got shares in the business. He was able to move from a caravan into a proper house.

Fast forward to when the lottery started and he went into a shop to buy a newspaper while waiting for his wife. A man pushed in front. Both the pusher in and our friend bought a lucky dip.
Friend won £1.6 million.
