Ever since I discovered the soft and warm teddy bear bedding I find it increasingly hard to get out of bed in the winter?
Anyone else find it hard to leave the bed in the morning?
What thoughts/tips do you have?😀

Get rid of the soft and warm teddy bear bedding?!
If you can afford to, put the heating on so your room is warm when you get up.
Or have hot water bottle, which makes the bed lovely to get into but in the morning I find that I am roasting and so it helps me throw the duvet off.

I find with the bedding. I don't need a hot water bottle anymore.

Ah well then I am out of ideas. I am one of those that just gets up when the alarm goes off or even before it does.

Getitwright · 18/02/2025 17:10

I have a bit of a plan for each day (retired, but very active) so I often can’t wait to get up and get cracking. But I do sometimes like a lie in, have a coffee brought up to me. Hated getting up for work sometimes though.

ethelredonagoodday · 18/02/2025 17:11

I'm with you OP. Could like in most mornings given half a chance. Especially in the winter.

NoSoupForU · 18/02/2025 17:11

Yes but it's more the dark morning than the cosiness of the bed!

Hate it, hate it, hate it. Spring mornings are on their way soon, but for the long winter I’ve used a sunrise lamp with radio to wake up to and dh brings a big mug of coffee. Without these things I would need to fully hibernate through.

CuteEasterBunny · 18/02/2025 17:15

I don’t have a choice to be up on a morning. It’s pretty much light at 7am now so that helps.

cheezncrackers · 18/02/2025 17:19

I find it hard to get up when it's dark, yes. But it's light now at 7am so that problem is really just a Dec/Jan one for me. I'm loving the lighter mornings and evenings. 5.18 pm currently and it's still light 😀

AcquadiP · 18/02/2025 17:21

I have two alarms: one on my 'phone; the other set 30 minutes earlier that wakes me up with artificial sunlight and bird song. It's made by Philips and it really makes a big difference. I don't exactly leap out of bed with joy but I'm much better at getting up than I used to be!

Didimum · 18/02/2025 17:22

Much harder yes, but left to my own devices I can very easily lie in til 10am as I’m a huge night owl. Unfortunately 6:30-7 has to be my main wake-up time.

DilemmaDelilah · 18/02/2025 17:25

I don't like getting up in the cold and dark. In the summer when it's light and bright I don't mind getting up at 5am. Apart from any other reason, our garden is surrounded by trees and scrubby fields and the noise from the birds precludes any attempt at trying to get back to sleep once I'm awake.

coxesorangepippin · 18/02/2025 17:28

Nope

I only get up when it's light

Thank God for WFH

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 18/02/2025 17:31

I don't tbh 😭 I love a winter morning, but tbh that's because I do the school run and come home

But I must say, I am looking forward to spring this year - gonna get myself some daffodils

stargirl1701 · 18/02/2025 17:49

Of course! Doesn't everyone? I don't think we evolved to get up in the dark.

LlynTegid · 18/02/2025 17:51

Not winter as such, but my sleep patterns are affected by the antiquated practice of putting clocks back in winter.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 18/02/2025 18:29

Get a daylight lamp alarm and put it somewhere where you have to get up to turn it off. For the past few days, I’ve started making a coffee in a thermal cup at bedtime and taking it up with me. It’s just the right temperature to drink in the morning and brings me round so I don’t fall back to sleep. It feels lazy as fuck but needs must at the moment!

KeenScroller · 18/02/2025 18:37

I really struggle this time of the year to get up in the mornings. We got a lightbulb that can turn on gradually to wake us up, which has been brilliant. I have noticed that it’s been lighter in the mornings recently though, spring is just around the corner!.

blueshoes · 18/02/2025 18:40

Yes, that is why I get up at 9.30 or later most days

RedHelenB · 18/02/2025 18:44

No. We're a family of early risers though.

Puppylucky · 18/02/2025 18:45

Get a cat - preferably a very noisy one!

BurntBroccoli · 18/02/2025 18:46

Yes! I put my electric throw on low for 9 hours by mistake last night and it was just so lovely and cosy this morning.

PumpkinPie2016 · 18/02/2025 19:13

On work days, I am up at 5.30am and I do find it harder in the winter when it's so dark and colder. I have fluffy socks and dressing gown - we get the fires going first thing so, although they have been in overnight, it can take w while to get warm.

I usually leave home at 7am- just before half term, I noticed it was getting slightly lighter in the mornings and evenings so spring is definitely on the way!
