Purbeck part of Dorset. Swanage for a bit of sand, bucket and spade, fish & chips etc. Kimmeridge for fossils and a paddle. Steam railway if its open. Corfe Castle.

weymouth? Lovely big beach. Shallow sea and plenty to do of the weather isn’t great. There’s arcades, rides, the sea life centre and lots of kids friendly museums and a lovely old cinema in Dorchester which is about a 20 minute drive away.

@Ablondiebutagoody thank you!

Could also check out the New Forest on the way there or back. Often wild ponies, cows, pigs wandering around villages like Durley and not too far from the main road to Dorset

Shallow sea...but bloody freezing at that time of year!

I do like Weymouth though. You've got the sealife centre, Nothe Fort, crab fishing, the beach is lovely. There's also Portland Bill lighthouse a short drive away. Happy childhood memories!
