Diary of a 24 M really fussy eater
Breakfast : milk plus homemade bread with peanut butter plus yogurt with blueberries / croissant
Snack : banana or apple
Nap : milk
Lunch : homemade chicken , courgettes and potatoes meatballs , plus carrot stick
Snack : protein raspberry yogurt plus crackers
Dinner : carrot stick plus pasta with pesto with sneaky courgettes /

She also has : leanpork and boiled eggs meatballs , lasagna , sausages , homemade hazelnut meringue , apples , pears , pesto with disguised spinach and courgette , Greek yogurt , hummus with crackers , bolognese .

Not a fan of rice , certain pasta sauces , won’t touch eggs or cheese , sometimes she won’t have dinner if something she doesn’t fancy what I cooked 😌

Bed : milk

Does this sound like sensory issues

Christ. My toddler will literally only eat croissants or crisps at the moment. With the odd banana thrown in. This is not fussy!

A lot of people eat eggs in things but don't like the texture of a boiled egg.
That's completely normal.

I really like egg mayonnaise sandwiches and omelettes and have one or the other most days, but cannot eat hard boiled yolk on it's own.

I do like the white part and things like fried eggs, but only if I cook them myself so I can carefully control the doneness of the yolk. Otherwise I eat and enjoy a wide variety of food.

ForestFox44 · 18/02/2025 11:31

How on earth are you thinking this is fussy? Most kids go through stages of not liking their usual foods, spitting it out etc and im pretty sure every parent disguises food to get their toddlers to eat it...I agree with the other poster seems more of a humble brag post 😅😅

Bakedpotatoes · 18/02/2025 11:35

I honestly thought this was about a 24 year old male at first. However, that is not a fussy eater. My DC2 won't eat any vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice, anything with any sauce, mashed potatoes, chips so you are doing well.

Paddleboardsandironingboards · 18/02/2025 11:39

Homemade chicken did make me laugh.

Do you really think this child has sensory issues Hmm

AppleBlossomMay · 18/02/2025 11:42

@Sophiakurby25
I read the title of your thread and expected to read that your child eats the same few things over and over.
Your child's diet is healthy and varied, she's not a fussy eater!
It's normal not to like the texture of certain foods, that doesn't indicate sensory issues. You're worrying about a non-issue.

I thought you were talking about a 24 year old male 😆

Same!!! I thought that until I got to ‘nap: milk’

OhHellolittleone · 18/02/2025 11:51

She sounds fine, if not fairly varied. Is she at nursery? It helps with variety and trying new things.

godddwhathaveyoudone · 18/02/2025 11:55

This is not ‘really fussy’

godddwhathaveyoudone · 18/02/2025 11:56

First baby?

CurbsideProphet · 18/02/2025 11:57

That's a more interesting diet than my 2 year old will eat. Is this some sort of weird humble brag 😳

godddwhathaveyoudone · 18/02/2025 12:00

The food list is giving ‘cinnamon and gooseberry yoghurt’ energy 😁

AttachmentFTW · 18/02/2025 12:01

This feels like a stealth boast post, and is really rubbish for parents whose children are actually fussy eaters and/or have sensory issues to read.

Sophiakurby25 · 18/02/2025 12:02

godddwhathaveyoudone · 18/02/2025 11:56

First baby?

Yes first baby and I have never looked after babies before . I just wish she’d be more to try stuff ..

This diet is completely fine, my same age DD is similar.

What worked for us was stopping the milk. She was filling up too much on milk and it meant she wasn’t truly hungry for her meals.

LemonFish · 18/02/2025 12:03

I cannot be the only one who read that as a 24 year old male

Sophiakurby25 · 18/02/2025 12:08

She doesn’t go to nursery or a childminder .. I am sorry it’s coming across as a brag post . It wasn’t my intention but I was made to feel guilty by another mom whose kid tries and eats everything .

Haha, I thought it was a 24 year old male too, at first.

For a two-year-old toddler that sounds just fine. They're notoriously picky eaters and are just familiarizing themselves with flavours, textures and other sensory input - so all pretty much have sensory issues and weird food preferences. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It sounds like your doing a great job getting different foods with decent nutritional value into her.

Ignore her, it’s just luck of the draw and her child has plenty of time to turn fussy anyway. You’re doing fine.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 18/02/2025 12:14

She eats loads. I ate an egg once and never ever again. I've got to 50 without eating egg.

gettingtothebottomofit · 18/02/2025 12:16

Here is the diary of a 37 yr DH really fussy eater:

Breakfast: Nothing
Lunch: Hot dogs and pasta with ketchup
Dinner: Steak (plain) and chips

My DH hasn't eaten as well as your toddler in his whole life.

RobinHeartella · 18/02/2025 12:16

Home made hazelnut meringue?

If this is not a deliberate humble brag, and I believe you that it isn't, please read the room. Your typical mumsnetter does not have time to make hazelnut meringue.

I wish I had enough time and headspace to make hazelnut meringue. That is nuts, pun intended

Me too. I was very confused when I got to the nap part 😂

Don't pay any attention to that woman. You're doing a great job with your child, she's eating different foods, has homemade food, protein, fruits, veg etc. There are a lot of toddlers who eat a much more limited diet than yours. As you can see by reading this thread. You have nothing to worry about.

Continue to offer different foods as she grows but remember, she's an individual, she's going to have likes and dislikes, we all do.

She might go through a fussy stage at some time or another but that's ok too, it can all be part of normal development.

jolota · 18/02/2025 12:21

Your toddler eats way more variety than my 3 year old.
I'd love it if my daughter ate that much!
Doesn't sound fussy at all to me.
