To be absolutely terrified after watching latest episode of Uncanny

Been catching up on iPlayer with final episode of Uncanny- the latest one about the shadow man in Crofton.

AIBU to be completely freaked out by this one? At first I thought it was the most easily explained until we found out his friends and family had all seen the shadow man around him.

don’t want to put any spoiler alerts in, but the post mortem podcast has seem even more scary revelations which could explain it, but are not reassuring in the slightest.

Can Anyone shed any light on what this shadow man can be? ( no pun intended!)

Ooo yes, I remember that

Also the one about the woman who was went into the woods chasing after a runaway dog and got menaced by evil disembodied voices.

That one was made up apparently.

I should bloody well hope so 😂

I've just watched the last episode. I am definitely team sceptic. But will also only watch in daylight and may or may not leave a night light on after certain episodes.

The Julian episode is the one that scared me least, mainly because it did seem to be the one with the most plausible explanation (his grief and metal health).

I really do think some people are more prone to experiences. My DM has many stories, and she 100% believes that every single one has happened. However, she is also more likely to look for a supernatural explanation.

I remember a time she was visiting a new home, she was wandering around the living room when she declared that a certain corner of the room felt awful and that there was a heavy "evil" smell coming from it. She was adamant there was something wrong with that corner of the room. Turns out she was smelling the strong scent of the fresh lillies on the table as she walked past 😆. If we hadn't realised this and pointed it out, she would have continued to remember and probably embellish the story as a time she sensed evil in our new home!

I love Uncanny and I love Danny Robins and all he does, but I'm afraid I don't think these are genuine witnesses. Their interviews seem stilted: similar to real life crime reconstructions where the words are "spoken by actors".

How about the journalist Hannah Betts, who was in one of the radio episodes?

If they were actors, wouldn't we see them in other things sometimes? Some people do just go wooden in front of cameras. And sure, the show might have attracted some people who are just attention-seekers or whatever. But I think most of them are sincere and believe they experienced what they say.

I love Uncanny, I like the skeptic/believer approach and the way Danny seems genuinely unsure about the possible explanations. I feel like the two "experts" have become quite repetitive and predictable though - especially poor old Ciaran always having to think up some highly unlikely sciency explanation and then getting pooh-poohed by Evelyn.

However this series has given me the willies so I've had to stop watching for now. I'm fine while watching it but then lie in bed gripped by terror that I'm going to see something and can't get to sleep 😱

And yes sometimes you worry about the people involved. And as the guest Ghosts actor Kiell said, why don't they leave? So many of the stories involve people experiencing scary things for months or years on end in the same place. I can understand if it's your workplace but if it's a rented house I'd be out of there.

That was the annoying thing about the show (and its follow-ups) - never a word about what happened after Julian moved, or at any point in the next 20 years or so. An important point, given that he felt it was attached to him rather than the building and followed him into town and into his car.
