Am I being OTT here- almost 3 year old and fake coins

My mum has bought my son, who will be 3 at the end of April some fake money and coins to play with. He likes to put the coins in his pocket and ' pay ' for stuff / give change etc.

I'm really worried he's going to choke on them and I don't want him playing with the coins.

Yes he's well past the stage of putting stuff in his mouth, but I still think there is a risk he could put it in his mouth.

My mum says I'm being OTT.

What does everyone think ?

Thanks !

Put them away if you want to. Your choice.

It's something I would probably only let him play with if I were with him and involved in the play. I'd be removing them when said game was over as I share your concern. Do as you feel is right, it doesn't matter what yout dm thinks.

There’s nothing wrong with him playing with them, just under direct supervision. My DS is 8 years old and still puts things in his mouth 😩
