To ask for advice regarding out of court settlement?

My former landlord did not return any of my deposit nor did he protect my deposit in any scheme. As he had broken the law I was entitled to up to x3 the deposit amount, and I took the case to a small claims court.

I wrote to my solicitor asking about the hearing, and they informed me the landlord had agreed to pay me an out of court settlement so the hearing did not go ahead.
The landlord has 10 days left to pay otherwise the case will be returned to court with higher costs and damages incurred.

I haven't experienced anything like this before but I am really hoping the landlord will pay. Surely it's in their best interests to? Part of me is worried that they're just hiding their time and hoping I'll let it go if they don't pay, but I won't be.

Any advice regarding this? If they don't pay now then they'll just have to pay more down the line so surely they'd want to. I moved out of this property almost a year ago and it's taken this long to get anywhere. I'm worried they won't pay and then it'll just be another few months of hassle. Any experience from others?
