I went to the hair dresser before christmas and asked for a plum balayage but ended up with a allover plum hair that didn't suit me for some reason it was quite red rather then plum I then went back 3 weeks ago and again asked for a plum balayage and have ended up with purple hair again totally the wrong colour I showed lots of inspiration photos!

But now this purple us staining everything my face, neck, clothes and bedding so I have a appointment at a different salon I'm fed up so now wanting a to know aibu to ask to get the purple out and how reasonable is it to expect maybe a caramel balayage? And what can I do to help lighten the purple before my appointment

Can we see photos

Did you tell them that you weren't happy with the balayage that wasn't ?? Odd that it is staining everything. Just go back to the original salon and say that you want it sorting ?

Other than washing your hair with normal shampoo I don't think I would do anything to get rid of/lighten the purple, you may damage your hair and putting any other products on it may mean your next hairdresser may not be able to do anything to it.

Have you told the hair dresser you are unhappy either time?

Whatsmynameagain2010 · 14/02/2025 01:07

I said the 1st time it wasn't the right colour and was kind of fobbed off and then the second time was almost right just the shade was wrong but they said it would calm down!

But like I said I don't have a brass neck I have a purple one!
I've tried washing in freezing water as I read online that can stop the transfer but nothing.

What shampoo should I use to try and lighten it?

I regularly dye mine purple
It can sometimes take a while to wash out
Just give it a few washes and the transfer will stop

I was told that Tresemme shampoo was good for stripping colour out of hair and have used it when my bleached hair has got a bit too yellow. It worked fine for me, so may be worth considering giving it a go on your purple hair?

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect a caramel balayage. Your hair needs a colour correction and going from purple/red to blonde in one sitting isn’t likely. You’ll likely end up with an intermediate stage colour after your appointment, that the new salon can build on in the future. It won’t look bad but it will likely be not exactly what you want

What colour can I expect I don't like copper I don't like it! Could I get a brown?
