Cat has done me dirty!

I can’t sleep. The cat is wandering about the house, as they do. She just walked over my pillow and onto my bedside table. I heard a strange sound… looked over and she was rubbing her head on the straw of my drink mug! Also gave it a lick and a quick nibble! Does she do this every night, and I’ve just been blissfully unaware?! I drink from this quite a lot during the night!! Now I’m realising, mr and the damn cat have been sharing a drink 🥴 she’s a keen arse-licker, too. So her butt is also in the straw!!

I always take (misplaced, I’m sure!) comfort in the fact that I read somewhere that cat’s saliva has antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
So it’s just like giving things a once-over with dettox, right?

No. Definitely not the same!

I have to say OP YABVVVVVVVU. When you were bestowed with the gift of a lifetime
of servitude to DCat there was the tacit agreement that this kind of thing was totally fine and in fact you should feel very special that DCat deigns to lick anything of yours, what with it being a lovely servants belongings and all.

This sort of thing is likely to happen unless you keep bedroom doors shut at night, or shut the cat into whichever room contains the cat flap.

My cat barely drinks out of his water bowl but will happily help himself to my ice cold bedtime water. A*shole.

Speaking of a*shole cats - that's my favourite group on Facebook 😂

My friend’s cat went for a walk along the top of her headboard and fell off landing on my friend’s face. Rude awakening that was.

Yup DCat also does this! It’s a fabric headboard so quite enjoys sharpening her claws on it, too. Quite alarming when that’s happening right next to your head in the dead of night

Genuine non snarky question but why is an overnight glass of water necessary?
I see a lot of people do it but it never occured to me, I can't imagine waking up and needing a drink so badly I couldn't wait until morning
And after reading this thread I sure as Hell wouldn't be doing it!!

I think my mouth drops open while I'm asleep because I always wake up with it bone dry. I often wake several times overnight and have to have a sip of water because of this.

Ours love to drink out of any and all glasses of water around the house - my son keeps a pint glass of water near his bed and woke up to find her happily lapping up the water from the glass! Another favourite is the water from the ironing jug which they dip their paws into to check it’s suitable before helping themselves! 😂

I have it for before I fall asleep and then realistically don't need it in the night but then I've had instances where I'll have a cough or something and need it so it's a 'just in case' water 😂

We had a cat who drank a LOT, including from my water glass. We had a huge bowl in the bedroom to try and dissuade him. He also drank wine..
