And what was your results like? Did it last long? I’m getting it done soon for the first time and I can’t wait lol

  1. Just a little in forehead. Once every 6 months.
Astrabees · 12/02/2025 22:05

I’m 68 and think I look good, no wrinkles at all on my forehead. I’m certainly not going to start with Botox. Instead of the emphasis on dramatic interventions and expensive skin creams I do think there should be more emphasis on ALWAYS using a factor 50 sun cream on all exposed skin when going outside. If everyone did this there would be far fewer people thinking they need Botox and fillers

Newbie8918 · 12/02/2025 19:43

Yes.

To me, it's as normal as dying your hair.

So also not something I do. But my genes are kind.

not something that is normal in my circle. No judgement.

Scrabbelator · 12/02/2025 22:06

People who get botox think it's subtle and not obvious to others. They're wrong. It's always noticeable. They all have frozen, expression-less faces. And it looks weird.

Grammarnut · 12/02/2025 22:08

At no age. Why on earth are you having Botox. You realise it makes your immobile?

Mum2jenny · 12/02/2025 22:08

Just enjoy the fact that you are older, but you are still alive.
You could be dead and 6 foot under.
Just live your lives and forget about your appearances. They are not really relevant in your daily lives imo.

Apparently 7% of women in the UK have it. So definitely not normal.

This sounds like one of those spammy videos that are on Facebook or Tiktok with inspirational music and an AI voice reading them out. LOL

I know, it was so cheesy, I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, tell her off or hug her, she said it with such a straight face and looked mightily offended when I told her off 😂.

I was 35 I'm 42 now and would
Definitely say it's worth it. I get it done 6-7month infact I'm going tomorrow
I wouldn't be without it.
I look less angry and tired I go get quite a lot of units as I like no movement but I don't have the shiny puffy look that's usually associated with Botox

When you say you have no movement, do you mean you don’t pull the expressions you used to?

mumzof4x · 12/02/2025 22:11

@Tumblingthrough me too !! 🤣

olivehater · 12/02/2025 22:15

38 am now 42. I get it every 9 months. I always let it wear off fully. Have managed to significantly reduce the 11s so that there are hardly any lines there when the Botox has worn off. They are definitely less prominent than when I started. I didn’t mange to stop the horizontal lines forming in time so with hindsight I wish I had started a bit earlier. Maybe 35.
I like it best at the 4 month stage when it is half worn off if am really honest. But it does seem to have lasting effects for a good 8 months on me now. I feel fresher with it.

ragandbonewoman · 12/02/2025 22:18

Years ago, having Botox was a massively taboo subject, now nobody even raises an eyebrow!

ExercicenformedeZ · 12/02/2025 22:19

I'm 42 and have never had it. I'm not anti cosmetic surgery, but it isn't for me. I look a lot younger than my age, as well.

DramaAlpaca · 12/02/2025 22:19

I'm 60, never had botox or fillers, never will. I'm still relatively unlined, and have decent skin. I'm developing slight marionette lines though and I hate them, but I intend to leave them be.

BobMunkhouse · 12/02/2025 22:20

I've never had it but most women I know have, it's less common if you haven't had it where I live.

I think it's too late for me at 39, 8 years of no sleep and then months of crying for a lost Mum have ruined my eyes anyway!

JustSawJohnny · 12/02/2025 22:20

52 and not had any.

Not sure there's any helping my turkey neck now 😂

LongDarkTeatime · 12/02/2025 22:21

I started using Botox, aka botulinum toxin, in my 20s in biomedical research.
Apart from reversibly paralysing muscles it can induce epilepsy too.
As for choosing to inject it into myself, you have to be joking, I’d not touch it.

Sampler · 12/02/2025 22:21

I don’t berate or judge anyone for being au naturel - so I don’t understand why people go so mental with the mention of Botox.
There’s always a pile on on MN, it’s like catnip on a par with any poor soul who says they are fat.
On MN you must be as thin as a whippet, super busy all day long, not dye your hair, not use injectables, have a 6 figure salary and are so young looking you pay half fare on the bus and the postman faints when he finds out you have children = bingo.

what a sad vein life you have

Amerosardia · 12/02/2025 22:23

Around early 40's for the "11's" between my eyebrows. They were quite deep but there's no sign of them now. I'm now late 50's and have Botox every three to four months, just a small amount. It makes a subtle but hugely beneficial difference. I go from looking slightly haggard and my age to looking fresh & younger. I now also have Botox for the "marionette" lines, it's amazing, it just slightly 'lifts' the corners of my mouth.
No amount of creams, skincare or facials can match a small amount of expertly placed Botox.

Sampler · 12/02/2025 22:24

@Heathershimmerwinner its vain not vein - at least get your words right when being judgy. Doh.

RitaFromTheRanch · 12/02/2025 22:24

mitogoshigg · 12/02/2025 21:36

Sorry but I do find it sad that women feel they should inject toxin into their bodies to look younger. I certainly don't, nor do I dye my hair, nor wear make up day to day. I'm 51, people think I'm younger than I am,

Probably because you're so childish if this is what you're like day to day.

Newmumhere40 · 12/02/2025 22:27

wherearemypastnames · 12/02/2025 19:45

It isn't normal - only a very small percentage of women actually use Botox for cosmetic / none medical purposes

But it's in sone people's interests to normalise it

Oh sshhh, YOU don't like it, then YOU don't use it and enjoy your wrinkles

Newmumhere40 · 12/02/2025 22:28

backpnceagain · 12/02/2025 19:49

I find it sad too how women seem to be using more and more injections and fillers to change their appearance. Ageing is a privilege and I don't see the sense in pumping your face with anything like that. Just seems sad.

Read the OP, no one asked.

missymousey · 12/02/2025 22:30

WTAF? How is it normal to inject chemicals into your face? 43, never intending to do this. If I'm ever tempted I hope I will spend the money on therapy instead to make sure I continue to feel happy in my own skin.
