To hate Facebook groups that do this

I hate that whenever I join a Facebook group the obligatory "welcome to our new members" post is broadcasted, tagging all the newbies.

I don't understand it tbh. No thanks, I don't want my Facebook profile tagged so everyone can see I've recently joined the group! I'd like to maintain a bit of privacy, especially if the group I've joined is a sensitive topic and there are people I know in the group!🤣I get fed up of it. I'm sure no one gives a shit about who's joined and likewise I don't care about a welcome message. No need to announce arrivals like it's a personal support group 🙄

I'm a very private person and keep my profile locked down so I guess I get a bit paranoid and don't want to be tagged in posts... I do always untag myself but it irritates me that these posts are made in the first place.

I know people can always search in the members but that's not the same

I hate this as well! one group I’m in has started doing weekly shout outs for the 3 most active members of the week and saying ‘everyone comment your appreciation for Mary below!’ 🤣

Yeah it feels so childish🤣

Could you set up a Facebook page with a shortened version of your name or a fake name and join groups that way.
On the personal page you don't have to put anything if you don't want to.

I think some fb groups do this automatically, a admin isn't sat there with a list individually tagging people.

However it's really annoying, I instantly untag myself.

the automatic bit (for my groups) asks me to send out the message. I dont as I dont like them

I hate this too so i untag myself. I hate the name calling too.

I have seen this on both very active groups and ones where barely anyone posts. The other one is meet your admin posts each time someone joins in groups with one admin which have had no new posts in months.
