To ask what should I treat myself to

myladybelle · 11/02/2025 21:54

Just got a bonus at work and I have decided to treat myself to something. Budget is £300 max. I already have a handbag I love. What should I get ? I want something material not an experience.

Decent winter coat. Pair of knee high boots. Jewellery. Cashmere jumpers. New tech.

Luddite26 · 11/02/2025 21:57

A nice picture.

Scarf.

Put it i n the bank until there's something you want - if you don't have a clue & ask random strangers, why bother?

What jewelry?

That's a matter of personal taste. A statement piece like a ring or necklace, a couple of stacking rings, some necklaces to layer, a pair of earrings...

Rocknrollstar · 11/02/2025 22:41

A friend told me to always buy something tangible with a bonus. I always bought jewellery and she gradually collected pieces for her dinner service.

Yes exactly. Otherwise the bonus money goes into the family pot for football lessons and whatnot, I never get something for myself.

See what catches your eye at an mixed online auction.

Theredjellybean · 12/02/2025 08:05

I've just done this and bought a beautiful silk shirt and cardigan from Sezanne.

wingsspan · 12/02/2025 08:06

I'd put it aside until there's something I wanted rather than buy something for the sake of it.

GreyCarpet · 12/02/2025 08:07

Surely it depends on what you like?

I mean if you have to ask, "What jewellery?"

pictoosh · 12/02/2025 08:16

A good pair of stylish boots that will go with anything.

Quiinkong · 12/02/2025 08:18

You could change your whole underwear collection

This and spend the rest on fancy box of chocolates:

Bjorkdidit · 12/02/2025 08:29

I've got my eye on the Lego Botanical Garden and it would be a good use of the bonus if that's what you want but I agree with PPs that this is an odd question to ask random strangers.

If you don't know what you want, put it in a savings account and then when you do see something you want, you'll have the money sitting there to buy it. If you spend it now on something you don't really love, you won't.

Shoxfordian · 12/02/2025 08:29

Decadorn does really pretty necklaces

Viveladonut · 12/02/2025 08:30

A whole new outfit, something that makes you feel really great. Spend a day at a big shopping centre and go to all the shops putting just one great outfit together. Like a silky mid length chocolate brown skirt (The White Company) with a pure wool jumper (Reiss) and black suede knee high boots (Dune)

I could buy 97 new pairs of white cotton undercrackers 🤣 I do wish I wore nice undies!

FantasiaTurquoise · 12/02/2025 20:22

I used mine on a wool duvet from the devon duvet company. Best spend ever - like sleeping in a cloud.

rainingoutsideagain · 12/02/2025 20:26

A bean to coffee machine!

mama38midlifecrisis · 12/02/2025 20:27

Invest it in a S&S ISA

CharlotteStreetW1 · 12/02/2025 20:28

Some gorgeous sunglasses (my particular weakness).

Tortielady · 12/02/2025 21:04

Shoes - some lovely designer ones you wouldn't otherwise look at. I can't recommend anything because I have the feet from hell and my shoes have been relentlessly sensible since I was a child. I'd get Timberland or something similar 😆 But I have a sister who loves shoes and would be in her element with a pile of money to spend on really pretty ones.
