Airplane crashed due to hacking

Hello, yes, me again…

I just want to be upfront that I think I am depressed and am in a dark place in my life.
I’m fully aware that my thought processes are slightly skewed & a little weird. It’s just something that occured to me, that all these airplane crashes are linked maybe. Am I the only crazy person here ?

I know I’m going down a rabbit hole but I can’t help but feel the airplane crashes are a bizarre coincidence.

A military flight with US soldiers Phillipines
Alaska flight crash
Medical flight crash
Black hawk crash into Kansas flight to Washington DC

I found this article about the rise of hacking of airplane computers
https://www.irishtimes.com/world/europe/2025/01/03/you-can-no-longer-fully-trust-your-onboard-systems-pilots-say-airline-hacking-attacks-now-a-daily-problem/

I know it’s conspiratorial but can we really rule out there’s not a connection to so many recent crashes ? If not hacking then something else ?

My thoughts and prayers are with the families. I know many people will find this post in poor taste but I don’t see it like that. If it was my relative I’d want the world to be shocked, dismayed and discussing this. I’d want media glare on this issue and pressure on government for answers.

Maybe it is all just a coincidence but so many fatal crashes in the one country is fairly unusual ?

You can find anything online to support any theory.

The vast majority of accidents are exactly that.

DustyLee123 · 11/02/2025 18:17

About 30/40 years ago a medical flight crashed on the way into Liverpool. The pilot had a heart attack.

Lavenderfarmcottage · 11/02/2025 18:19

I know but there’s been 3 fatal crashes in the space of 2 weeks

You are in a rabbit hole. But you know that. You can link anything you want. But it does not make conspiracies true.

ARainyNightInSoho · 11/02/2025 18:28

There are air crashes all the time. Sometimes there’s a spate of them, but there is no other significance to this. There are large numbers of people all over the world who are responsible for discovering the reason for these crashes; trained journalists, aviation engineers, police etc. Random obsessives on the internet are not going to help with the investigations and they will not provide you with well informed rational evidence either.

Your interest in this is because poor mental health is dragging you into dark places. Use your ability to fixate on something to focus on getting yourself well again. Instead of spending time reading about air crashes invest those hours in finding out what you can do to feel better and planning how you will put those things in place. Diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, counselling, therapy, medication, reconnecting with supportive friends, making new supportive friends, developing your hobbies, spending more time out of doors. This is the problem which needs your attention, not airplane crashes.

That’s not statistically relevant in the grand scheme of things. 20 crashes, maybe.

According to Wikipedia, there are around 100 incidents a year, so three in the space of two weeks is only slightly above average.

Around 400 people a year die in plane crashes.

Globally ?

Globally ?

Yes, globally.

But America is a big country with a huge amount of air traffic. Three crashes in two weeks is unusual but not massively out of the ordinary.

The media is withholding a great deal at the moment, it's not a conspiracy theory to wonder what is being interfered with. I suspect the answer will be a little more mundane but in this geopolitical hot bed of times, really who knows.

How do you know that? Why is everyone who knows this going along with it?

Cosmosforbreakfast · 11/02/2025 18:42

Op have you spoken to you GP or sought any help for whatever is causing this dark place you're in? You might be better off focusing on yourself instead of world news. I think we hear more nowadays about plane crashes and other accidents that we wouldn't know about pre internet. There are so many social media outlets with all sorts of theories that it can be easy to caught up in it all. Please speak to someone about how you feel.

Who is ‘the media’? The BBC, The Times, The Daily Mail, The Guardian, ITV, Sky, The Sun….? All the hundreds of people who work at those organisations are colluding to hide something?

AccidentalTourism · 11/02/2025 18:44

I use a news app that shows the same news story from different perspectives, across different political spectrums, across the world and shows who is funding the media. It's enlightening.

What app is that? Sounds very interesting.

Ground News

Mielikki · 11/02/2025 18:46

GPS 'hacking' does not cause crashes. It just results in the onboard GPS system reporting the plane to be somewhere it isn't, or not being able to report a position at all. Pilots do not rely on GPS alone or even primarily (they use inertial navigation as their primary navigation system), and they do not use GPS at all for landing/takeoff, such as happened with the Washington incident.

It's like when you are driving - GPS is nice to have, but if it goes haywire, or shows you to be travelling on the other side of the country, it doesn't result in you crashing does it?

Amazing how all these tens of thousands of people, all working for rival organisations, and all not exactly known for being able to keep secrets (journalists are the biggest blabbermouths and gossips there are) are somehow in on this one huge secret (whatever that is).

I’d love to get that app. What is it called?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 11/02/2025 18:57

As a nervous flyer I don't find this idea helpful .

Toddlerhelpplease123 · 11/02/2025 19:00

As someone who once managed to induce a psychosis from running down rabbit holes; all I will say is..

It could be true, it could be not. But how does this serve you?

That’s a mantra I live by now and I think is the core reason I managed to recover and stay on the sane side 😅

Dont go chasing! Especially if you recognise your outlook is less than robust right now (ie. You mention Depressed/ dark/ crazy).

AccidentalTourism · 11/02/2025 19:04

@ARainyNightInSoho
Ground News, it's a great app for critical thinking and seeing how differently the media cover the same story according to their bias.

I'm with you on this. A few years ago a particular group said what they would do to cause er...chaos (chose a 'soft' word there). And a lot of it seems to be happening! Take banks for example... suddenly crashing fairly frequently. Drinking water another one. I could go on .
Sorry you're feeling down...for goodness sake avoid X !
Take care x

Mielikki · 11/02/2025 19:14

Also, the article linked is incorrect. GPS is not 'hacked'. It is jammed. You can buy a short range jammer for a couple hundred quid, and ones with long enough range to jam aircraft reception for a couple thousand on Aliexpress. Of course the Russians have military-spec ones with ranges of hundreds of kms.

But as I said, commercial aircraft do not rely primarily on GPS - it's basically a backup to the main navigation system (inertial navigation) which does not rely on any external signals and therefore cannot be jammed.

Hearmenow23 · 11/02/2025 19:19

The new series "Zero Day" looks interesting and is based on a similar premise. It's on Netflix soon.
