There is just not enough money to live a nice, fairly average life now on good jobs. Really what is the point? Just working to survive until we retire, probably in our 70’s, if we’re lucky to make it that long..it’s crap! It isn’t a life and isnt the way it should be.

Have been watching the programmes with Olivia Attwood (think that’s her name) and all these people earning thousands a month with the aim of working a few years to earn a few million and be done. A lot of them seem to have captured niche markets, work from home, work for themselves…I don’t know, how much longer to go out every day to work, to slog my guts out just to get by.

I don’t blame them for doing it

Ive never looked at an Only fans page/site

It's a bit of a nonsense thread then to be fair.

Maybe go have a look and then form an opinion?

Teamcullen23 · 10/02/2025 22:35

It's unfair to say that anyone who does this is thick as mince. Also daft to suggest that they are all selling their souls and will psychologically damaged later on in life. Yes for some the benefits of a quick buck won't be worth it. Their families or employers may find out and they will regret that they did it.

Others won't care. It won't affect them. It won't traumatise them or have any negative effects. They will do it for as long as they like then move on and probably rarely think of it again.

Everyone is different. It wouldn't be for me but fair play to those who can make money from it if that's what they want to do.

No amount of money received for doing things for the sadistic pleasures of men will make up for the scars it will cause, forever. Scars that you won't know are even there. No amount of money is worth it.

I agree. It’s not worth it.

Screamingabdabz · 10/02/2025 22:06

They all have one thing in common though - they are as dumb as mince and have no self respect. If that’s you, go for it!

I don’t know how dumb mince is, but this is an appalling way to speak about women and it’s driven by pure misogyny.

OP I think if it were an easy enjoyable safe job that paid thousands for a few hours and required zero training, education or investment……..I mean you can see where this is going, jobs like this don’t exist. There is always a downside and for jobs like this it can be significant.

Olivia Attwood, the font of all knowledge?

You've watched one documentary and even if you're going to come back and say you've watched more, you're clearly only watching one side of a story.

Perhaps broaden your research a bit?

The feet ones they’d never know though

I guess they won’t but the big majority won’t do only their feet.

Actually, Google 'The dark side of Onlyfans documentaries'.

Amongst lots of other information there's a Youtube docu series.

LeaveALittleNote · 10/02/2025 23:02

I understand why people do it, although it comes with all sorts of dangers, of course, and making a financial success of it is the exception and not the rule. I watched quite a good drama series on iplayer called Mood, about young women getting sucked into that world. Although it’s a drama it was quite a good and addictive watch, and it explored some of the complications that come with that kind of work (mostly online stuff).

blackbird77 · 10/02/2025 23:08

Have you seen the stats on this? 98% of women make less than £150 a month on OnlyFans. You have to be in the top 0.02% to make any serious money. Normally you have to have a big social media following or be a semi-celebrity first to get those numbers. OF is full of women who look like models, doing the most extreme sex acts possible and can’t even break minimum wage. All these news stories talking about girls that make millions a month aren’t reflective of the average OF girl.

UPDATE ON QUESTIONS

i was told to give it a go by a random Chinese lady who was behind me in a bowling queue in turkey

she approached me and said im being very direct here but you could make loads with them

i said what do you mean?
her reply i heard your shoe size i make hundreds
(this person was 4ft 8 and a size child 12)

she told me how it works and i thought why not
made a few hundred with my very first one and went from there

ive only ever been a SAHM then a full time carer
no idea this world existed

she also told me i could make loads from my boobs(i was a M at the time)but i wasn't going that far

there's a few sites that does it but i make most on feet finder
ive never seen anyone near my size so i think the size does make a difference

i wouldnt do it if i was normal size

just make a account and upload photos

ive a bank account just for this
the site does takes a bit off you
then a bit later money comes in

i dont pay for pedicures or anything like that just look after my feet low key my self

Meadowfinch · 11/02/2025 14:38

In order to make significant money off such sites, your content has to be 'exceptional' which means you either need the face and body of an angel, or be prepared to do something extreme.

Some people will be willing and happy to do that.

Personally I prefer to work hard at my ordinary job, enjoy my self respect and my privacy, pay my mortgage on my slightly tatty house, and know that my children will never be embarrassed by the actions or behaviour of their mum.

Each to their own.

Zusammengebrochen · 11/02/2025 14:42

While I don't think it's up to me to tell other women how to live their lives, and agree that times are tough for many, I honestly feel that OF is just another way of oppressing women. I appreciate that others may not share this view, and that's ok, we're all different.

Briannaco · 11/02/2025 14:43

Matthew54 · 10/02/2025 22:10

Starting an only fans limits you professionally. At least in the US, it will show up on any background check that you did Only Fans. As much as people want to pretend we’re beyond sex shaming women or “sex work is real work”, these women will be significantly excluded from professional life.

I don't think that admin jobs care about people doing onlyfans.

myrtleleech · 11/02/2025 14:50

Hardly anyone makes big money from only fans, most will make a a few hundred a month at most and then will see that money drop off as people lose interest in them. They might then make some more money if they made more and more extreme or fetish content but eventually the punters will want something different. They also need to be doing constant engagement with "fans" which is a fulltime job in and of itself.

There are literally 1000's of women who have tired only fans to make money, posted very graphic and degrading images and videos of themselves which will circulate online essentially forever and then had to leave because they aren't making real money at it.

Its not just a case of posting a few fruity snaps online its a lot of work for a crowd that is always hungry for the next best thing and will quickly move on and forget you, share your images for free on sites like reddit etc. Its also a slippery slope as I already said you start making more extreme content to hold their interest, agreeing to collaborate with other women and men and worse to have meets with fans.

It's not worth it.

SunsetCocktails · 11/02/2025 14:52

StormyPotatoes · 10/02/2025 22:22

Most women make barely anything and have to do more extreme, more degrading things to make anything at all. Those stories of successful only fans stars are propaganda to get more women signed up - it’s nothing close to the norm.

This. Start out doing a few sexy poses and before you know it you're doing 'how many men can I fit in my back door' Lily Philips style

DreamyB · 11/02/2025 14:56

I think you really have to be extremely good at self promotion, find a niche and a following to make anything like this worthwhile. For every account that succeeds in making money there’s thousands upon thousands of woman posting photos of themselves (which can and will be screen shotted and shared no matter how good the tech on these sites becomes). It’s a very big risk to expose yourself like that with no guarantee you’ll actually make money, but will absolutely impact your future career prospects / relationships / self image. I would think very long and hard about it. X

Literally knew someone who fired a secretary for stripping on the side to pay for grad school because she brought the office into “ill repute”. It’s been happening for years.

ItGhoul · 11/02/2025 15:21

Meecrowahvey · 10/02/2025 22:03

Have you ever actually looked at OF or cam sites to see the reality of what these women actually do to themselves for money? Men don't pay for ordinary stuff they can get on pornhub.

LOL. You'll see far, far more extreme material for free on PornHub than the kind of things you'd get on the vast majority of OnlyFans pages.

People pay for OnlyFans for many reasons, but seeing more extreme acts than they'd see on PornHub isn't one of them.

ItGhoul · 11/02/2025 15:32

Screamingabdabz · 10/02/2025 22:06

They all have one thing in common though - they are as dumb as mince and have no self respect. If that’s you, go for it!

Always amuses me when there's a thread condemning porn for encouraging misogyny, and about three-quarters of the people doing them condemning are massively misogynistic.

Condemn porn all you want, but don't make judgements about the women appearing in it. You know nothing about them, their choices or how they feel about what they do and it's utterly hateful to talk about other women in this way.

Honestly, it's as if half of Mumsnet hates women more than the average porn-using man does.

That's mad. Because I was just talking to someone about something similiar.

I'm literally working at a school right now as a language assistant.

One of the male teachers told me that when he was younger he used to be a stripper.

He told me that he went round to do hen parties and birthdays.

It's seen as a bit of fun. It definitely didn't stop him from getting teaching jobs.

Why is it seen as ok for men to strip but it's not acceptable for women to strip.

There is a world of difference between a Chippendales knock off and the extreme stuff on Of. Performing at hen dos isn't the same as having your uninhibited sexual kinks and fetishes all over t'internet.

Read the thread please. That's not what we were comparing.

We weren't comparing male strippers to female only fans content creators.

We were comparing male strippers to female strippers on this page

A poster wrote that his colleague was fired , when his boss found out that she was also a stripper on the side.

I wrote that I work in a school and one of the male teachers told me that he used to be a stripper when he was young

Female strippers are seen as disgusting sex workers by society and employers.

Male strippers are seen as a bit of fun, and employers think that it's totally fine.

Why? It's a double standard.

Reetpetitenot · 11/02/2025 16:07

The thread is about Of. The poster you're referring to sounds as if the situation with the female stripper being fired perhaps occurred in the US - maybe they would have fired a male stripper too. However you look at it, a male stripper at a hen do is very unlike some of the online Of content, which can be incredibly extreme porn/fetish. A big difference between male and female strippers is also largely their audience, and the audience reaction.
