To put references available on request on forms

I’ve had a few applications recently where referees have been contacted early, but then ridiculous changes to the details of the jobs offer have emerged during the process.
On application forms in the boxes for references is it unreasonable to start writing references are available on request? It’s embarrassing to keep asking the same people and having their time wasted

Not unreasonable at all. In a world of GDPR I’m not dishing out people’s contact information for employers to waste their time.

I have nothing in my career history to hide, so I am happy to share referee’s upon verbal offer.
Most written offers & starts are subject to satisfactory references anyway.
