Attending a christening and not sure if this is OTT.

@ExercicenformedeZ
Mindful and demure 🤣
Probably half the folk on here think cropped shapeless trousers in bleuch colour and a tunic is the epitome of style.
Anyone remotely smart or fancy is a desperate for attention harlot!
Going by some of the horrid suggestions in S&B I see, it seems a lot of people have no clue how to dress.

MellersSmellers · 09/02/2025 18:46

Not sure many of these contributors have been to church recently! Jeans and leggings - No!
This is an evening dress, not for a morning church service. Otherwise lovely.
Out of consideration for the parents I think smart and respectful, but not Wedding posh.

September1013 · 09/02/2025 18:48

Seems a bit OTT for a christening - it’s more of an evening/cocktail dress.

Lulu49 · 09/02/2025 18:59

It's lovely, wear it xx

Missj25 · 09/02/2025 19:09

I think it’s fantabulous 😊..
And who doesn’t want to look & Feel Fab !!!!!
It’s a day for celebrating 🥳
Wear it OP 🙌

I'm sure they do. Or maybe even a nice pair of Lucy and Yuks. Bleugh!!

Chill. I don’t know why it’s hit a nerve so much. I’m not even the only poster to have used the phrase.

Well, yours was the comment I happened to see! I still think that it is an absurd phrase to use about a christening held during the 21st Century. It is an historical phrase.

Pippyls67 · 09/02/2025 20:50

A teensy bit phwar for a Christening. Stunning dress tho. Agreed.

I used the term as well - because it's difficult to convey the type of smart that I'd expect at a christening but it would be smart and kind of demure. A bit like Sunday best but no longer worn every Sunday. Anyway, people can wear what they like but if you post asking for guidance on what would be considered the norm isn't it fair enough that people try to answer that as best they can?

Careful now, you used the term Sunday Best, that’s not going to go down well with a particular poster 😁

It’s a ‘no’ from me. When I was Godparent to my twin nephews I wore a shift dress. Plain, simple, classy with an air of responsibility and, whilst we didn’t consult, my SIL sister also wore something similar.

The dress you posted would be great for a wedding IMHO, but too dressy for a christening.

'Plain, simple, classy with an air of responsibility' 😂😂

Onelifeonly · 09/02/2025 22:11

I'd say no. Too fancy and unsuited to the occasion.

SnoopysHoose · 09/02/2025 22:40

Plain, simple, classy with an air of responsibility
who knew a plain shift dress said responsibility 🤷🏼‍♀️
did you have responsible shoes to match? maybe a responsible wrap/pashmina?

Missj25 · 09/02/2025 22:59

Who actually dresses “ responsible “ going to Church 😂😂
Sexy All the way Bitches !!!!! 🤣🤣

A responsible cardi perhaps? 🤣

Mygrandkidsaregreat · 10/02/2025 02:29

I think it’s perfect for a christening.
it seems so many people dress down in jeans and tops ,however this dress looks smart and like you’ve given the occasion;some thought, and not just pulled on ‘off down the pub ‘ gear.
I went to a funeral of someone and close family were in jogging bottoms and trainers.Their granny would have had a fit,it wasn’t appropriate clothes for a grandmas funeral.IMO

SillyOldBucket · 10/02/2025 09:42

I love it! It is quite dressy but it's also classy and not revealing in any way and people tend to dress up a bit for a Christening, so I think it's fine.

Newbie8918 · 10/02/2025 11:58

@JustAnotherManicMomday hope you had a lovely day yesterday whatever you chose to wear! I do hope that you wore your beautiful dress with pride 💚
