How many air crashes are a non-alarming number?

Happyinarcon · 08/02/2025 05:35

They have always happened, they just don’t normally get reported on.

Are these the last days @BaMamma ?

What are you trying to get at with this post so to speak?

GaspingGekko · 08/02/2025 05:39

Exactly what @Happyinarcon says. Normally a plane crash of some tiny plane in the middle of nowhere with a few passengers on won't make the news. It's only newsworthy because of the other recent incidents.

fatandtrying · 08/02/2025 06:02

argh! don't!!!!! I've skipped flying for a few years because I'm terrified (been on 100s of planes but some how over the last 7 years I'm absolutely terrified of flying) and booked a extended family holiday aboard this year after we lost my Mil. and I'm absolutely terrified keep seeing these news reports! I thought maybe there where always a fair amount but I'd not be taking them in as wasn't traveling

Your chances of dying in a plane crash are 1 in 11 million.

You are more likely to be struck by lightning.

Less than the recent spate?

how many people have been killed in car crashes in the same period ? .
But we all hop in a car without a thought!

Zanatdy · 08/02/2025 06:39

No not really. Often there is more than one reported on, then nothing for a while. Are you due to fly and feeling anxious about it? I remember we flew to Florida 1wk after MH17 and I was thinking about it in the air. I had to remind myself that these things are very rare and air travel is very safe.
