Another man on TV abusing women

Yes the wretched Italian chef - not giving his name credence. https://www.itv.com/watch/news/the-latest-headlines-multiple-claims-of-inappropriate-behaviour-against-gino-dacampo/5wr9dh3

Hiding in plain sight.

There are others, I switch over on another popular "star" because of what he did to me and others when we were young.

AIBU to find this exhausting

I despise Gino. He is also a convicted burglar, and when Paul Young offered to forgive him for burgling his house if he cooked him a meal, he refused. I mean, what a tosser! and that was before this business. He has never been funny and always been sleazy and inappropriate. I wonder what Gordon, Fred and Gino got up to on those road trips.. hmmm..

Exactly how I feel- and with the fake accent. I could never understand why or how he was on tv.

I agree, it's the people who employed him I'm angry with. It's always been obvious what kind of man he is.

Agree it not shocking, people know what he is like and that's why he was booked.

Yes SA from men and women

I've worked in hospitality in my younger days, from around age 15 to 22/23, and can confirm this is true in my experience too. It follows the same MO and power dynamics as male to female abuse and would always be a more senior woman - either by position or age, or both - towards a much young man, often a teenager. Lots of comments of the "oooh, young man!" variety, lecherous remarks about stamina/vigour of youth, having a toyboy, questions about their body, their girlfriend's/relationships, have they ever had an experienced woman, and so on. I have no doubt that there'll have been worse gone on elsewhere but these are the sort of things I witnessed. Basically all of the same pervy shit men direct towards women but all of it still based on power dynamics because abuse is never about sexual attraction, it is always all about power.

Fowl Programmes like celebrity juice have encouraged these types and given them a platform. Thank god it's not on tv anymore.

100%. And who was the producer of Celebrity Juice? Can’t remember his name but it was Holly Willoughby’s husband. So he encouraged the behaviour of the likes of Gino towards his own wife. 🤢
HW is a very powerful woman in ITV, yet she carried on working with this creep on This Morning. Also worked with the other creep Scofield but she denied knowing anything about that. 🤔

TuesdayRubies · 07/02/2025 08:03

This one really doesn't surprise me. Sadly.

Eh? Someone did something to you? I don't understand your OP.

You didn’t understand the OP? Really?

I assume English is a second or third language,

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 07/02/2025 08:51

@LizzieSiddal yes her husband Dan Baldwin produced it and seemed to have no problem with his wife and other females being subject to lewd comments.

EveryKneeShallBow · 07/02/2025 08:54

Gino, Fred and Gordon came to my workplace years ago for the first series of Road Trip. I made sure I wasn’t around, but those that were confirmed I’d made the right decision.

Schofield did nothing wrong for goodness sakes.

Lots of people would consider grooming an underage child very wrong indeed, same for abusing a position of power to act in a predatory way towards the aforementioned groomed child.

Brave of you to declare publicly that you see nothing wrong with either…

HRTQueen · 07/02/2025 10:47

Not at all shocked by this

He has always made creepy comments and I am a Celeb he was revolting I couldn't want anything he was on after this

As for Celebrity Juice this was always the absolute pit if misogyny, utterly vile with its revolting its all a joke prat of a presenter. I am shocked so many intelligent women went on this show

directorofwhat · 07/02/2025 11:00

I know a Michelin star chef who has worked on tv a bit who can’t stand him, he made that clear many years ago. The chef I know is really lovely, I haven’t watched D’Acampo since he told me how much he dislikes him, I switch off or turn over.

@Pebbles16

If you have been abused by anyone, you have to report it to the police

Don't be sat there hinting there's more out there, OUT them

No one has to report any offence. I admire those who do, and I thank them for taking that stand to help others. But it’s a whole new ordeal, and I don’t blame anyone who can’t face revisiting the pain they suffered.

HRTQueen · 07/02/2025 11:18

I agree the ordeal of reporting abuse is often very traumatic and stressful

I was told by a female police officer it was not worth pressing charges as my ex had scratches on his face, I was suffering from concussion at the time and bruised all over thankfully a lovely nurse asked the PO to leave me alone and then had a supportive chat with me.

ChessorBuckaroo · 07/02/2025 12:04

LBFseBrom · 07/02/2025 09:02

Schofield did nothing wrong for goodness sakes.

You mean he did nothing illegal.

It can still be wrong though. I know Elton John and others have suggested nothing would have been said had it been a man and a younger woman, in other words homophobia is at play, but it was the fact he knew him from when he was 15, in a position of authority got him a gig at ITV, then had sex with him when he was of legal age, and behind his wife's back. He said it wasn't grooming and we can only take his word for it. It just doesn't look right though.

TaylorSwish · 07/02/2025 12:31

User67556 · 06/02/2025 19:01

Have you reported them?

I understand why victims don’t report especially if it’s a celebrity.

Exactly that and the groping too. I'm straight and have been groped and propositioned by women as well as men, not all in hospitality either. I learned to pull fast extreme aggression out of nowhere by the time I was 17 I'm not all that aggressive in real life, it was just a way to stop it before they go too far. I do hate it when people decide they can maul you or demand sexual favours just so you can continue to do your job.

While I would say it is mostly men committing these acts, there are some women who do this. It is about power and what people think they can make you do, the worst of it is when you are in your late teens to mid-20s because you're almost always in a lower status job but it doesn;t walways stop there.

Sorry you went through that. Surely the scratches were just evidence that you struggled against him?
