Ok....maybe a bit too far, but dd is 2 yo, she's singing along with the lelly kelly advert, and ds (3yo) comes and says to me, 'dd wants some lelly kelly shoes so she can ahve a mobile holder and that make-up'....and dd is stood looking at me with a big grin saying 'peeeease mummy'

make-up!!!! OMG- i'm gonna tear my hair out...she's 2FFS, has seen the advert only a handful of times and already knows some of the song for it!!!!

on thursday i bought the white and pink pairs here for DDs for my sister's wedding (they are flowergirls).

they are gorgeous shoes and not at all too bright or garish. they look good quality too.

they adored the pink mobile cases and now when they watch the ad scream with delight "we've got those" rather than "can we have those"

amidaiwish · 10/05/2008 10:44

but yes i do agree the marketing/advertising is too much and on too much. but that is up to nick jr and the other channels to control, not for lelly kelly's advertising team to stop! they seem to be doing a very good job by all accounts....

pigleto · 10/05/2008 10:52

dn has some. They are lovely and look really comfortable and much more supportive than doodles.

I know they are seen as very chav by some superior individuals. Personally I think they are too expensive for what they are and the adverts are revolting (but effective), but dn loves them a stupid amount and if dd wants some I will probably cave in.

Nothing snobbish in my dislike of them. As someone else said, they look like fairy vomit (my fave new phrase )

Couldn't give a stuff if someone wants to buy them for their child but they won't be touching BabyDragon's feet unless she buys them herself.

Twig, she has the neutral coloured ones with a small picture of a crab on them . They go with her whole wardrobe (which includes enough sparkle and fairy dust and other lovely girl things that aren't pink). She also has a pair of plain brown boys sandals from Next as the nice sand coloured flowery girl's ones weren't available in her size. Again, they go with everything she has as she's not a fluffy frilly girl, she's a 3rd born with 2 older brothers. those infernal LK things would not go with anything she has and would not match her mud-pie-warfare-and-climbing lifestyle.

SoupDragon · 10/05/2008 12:25

Oh, and the mobile phone/lipgloss/plastic crp aren't gifts. You've paid* for them!! don't be conned into thinking they were free!

Lauriefairycake · 10/05/2008 12:45

I love fairy vomit

if I had a little girl i would buy her those, last year I bought a pair of pink sequin ballet pumps for myself and I really don't see the difference

I like pink sparkly stuff, guessing if I have a girl she is likely to want fairy vomit too

nkf · 10/05/2008 12:52

They are absolutely gorgeous. You are not unreasonable, just immune to their charm.

Lovesdogsandcats · 10/05/2008 17:40

god I DETEST the kids voices in this ad. they pronounce it lAlly kAlly.Think they are meant to sound cute but they are just irritating.

DarthVader · 10/05/2008 18:47

i WOULD Not want the words Lelli Kelli in massive writing on my dd's shoes anymore than I want NEXT emblazoned on her chest or bottom. I HATE kids as walking billboards.

Each to his own though, buy Lelli Kelli by all means if you want to, but OP asked if people like them or not, lots of adults don't is the answer.

You can buy them for your kids if you like 'em and they like 'em and good luck to you. But you can't make everyone else like 'em just by calling them snobs

oh dear, they have some in the shop down the road, i thought they looked quite nice actually, kind of dress up shoes.

That said I didn't realise the price, nor that there was an associated tv ad...

gegs73 · 10/05/2008 19:34

DS1 is very boyish hates everything pink or girly normally. However, he did admit the other day that if he were a girl these are the shoes he would want. Pesky advertising!

lottiejenkins · 10/05/2008 19:39

I posted on this a few weeks ago.... saying the advert made me wanna puke!!!

misdee · 10/05/2008 19:45

i have 3 girls.

and detest these shoes.

they are all the things i hate about having girls. that people think girls want pretty sparkly things. they dont. not always.

dd1 wants to climb trees. so have trainers or converse boots (admittingly her converse are bright-in-yer-face pink becauser they were on sale). dd2 scooters everywhere, those sequins would go flying off if she decides to use her foot as a brake (which she does, despite much groaning from me)

and dd3 is a pirate, cars loving 3 year old. who loves playing in mud puddles.

DefinitelyNotMARINAWheeler · 10/05/2008 19:50

I don't think it's snobbish to find £40 canvas shoes that have a half-life of 500 years they glow so brightly, horrible, custy

I try and spend much less than that on dd's shoes, and usually succeed

They do seem to be quite well-made, and attaching a full kilo of beads per shoe must up the manufacturing costs, but luckily dd is not that aware of them so I have got away with fairly plain sandals and some lurex party pumps for £10 from M & S

Sure dd likes frills and froufrou but her favourite shoes this summer are her £5 butch Regatta hiking boots from TK Maxx

JeremyVile · 10/05/2008 19:54

"with Lelly Kelly, the cutest shoes (oh eah) you can play with us, we are so cool (oh yeah)"

Lovesdogsandcats · 10/05/2008 22:15
